Cats get diseases from other cats. You need to have your cat immunized against them. They call parvo a different thing for cats, but it is basically the same thing. If you are thinking of taking in a cat and your cats have their shots, you don't have to worry. Just get the shots for the cat you are bringing in.
Cat diseases are not passed to humans, so you don't have to worry about yourself or any children.

can cats carry parvo? I say yes, considering parvo can live on the bottom of your shoe for over 3 years. Will parvo make your cat sick? no. cats do get feline distemper, plus feline hiv.

Hi there...an unvaccinated cat can carry these two diseases. The feline version of parvo is called Bordetella caused by the corona virus: http://cats.about.com/od/respiratorydisease/a/bordetella.htm and they also get distemper http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_feline_distemper.html

Nancy, parvo is not kennel cough that is Bordatella. Cats carry both and that is why we vaccinate against both. Parvo is deadly so why not spend the $50 and prevent your cat from getting it.

they have shots for those things so that cats don't get them. Humans can't catch them. If they aren't vaccinated for them, they can get those diseases from other cats who are sick. Parvo has another name for cats, but it is the same thing with another name, basically.
Get the cat the shots and you don't have to worry. They aren't born with these diseases. They get them from other sick cats.
