its being deceptive... not a good thing to keep doing if you want her trust.

sounds complicated

if you think that maybe the person would really like to know something, you know that and then withhold that info.

Its a small lie of omission

if they ask you directly and you say something untrue instead, its a worse lie, maybe worth leaving somebody if they do that very much

This online guy I've talked to for 1 year, has came out and met me. Before coming out, he said 2 weeks before he came that he'd prefere me not to date until I met him, because he just knew we would click!

Well, I found out he made 2 dates 1 week before meeting me, and spent 4 days with his ex gf. When I found out, he said, I didn't lie. I just didn't tell you.

HE'S a LIAR in my books.
If you feel you don't have to mention something, then I feel your not being honest.

No not at all sometimes it is better to ommit things as the things that we ommit might upset someone if they knew so you are in a strange way protecting that person

There are lies of commission - you overtly act to commit the lie, in other words you tell the lie...and there are lies of omission - you overtly act to not say something. In other words by not fessing up, you are still lying.

no, I mean you don't have to tell her every move or do you? A lie is a false statement; denying the truth. You did neither.

depends how important this detail is. if you dont see it as an important detail and she does your better off telling her. its not lying but it is keeping important details and that to some people is considered lying

from a legal poin, you have not told a lie, unless specificly asked about this ommision.

Technically it's not a lie, but it's definitely dishonest. So if you're arguing semantics, you're right, but if you're arguing if you were wrong to leave it out, then you're wrong.
