My nine month old is a wriggler, but I find singing songs, pulling stupid faces or giving him a strange object (not a toy) I give my son an empty cotton bud pot, or a small food pot with dried pasta in it. It keeps him fascinated long enough for me to change his bottom. If I give him a toy, he just throws it away.

Once I even resorted to putting a nappy on my head (CLEAN) and another time a pair of his trousers!!

Sorry but there is nothing you can do. All my kids have done it. apparently all 12 months babies develop a mischievous streak where they think everything is a game. He will grow out of it, I have to enlist the help of my husband for holding the top half while I deal with the bottom. I usually get so frustrated that it starts to seem funny to me too. It just a small part of parenting so don't worry about it and enjoy what seems to be a very entertaining and cheeky little boy.

My kids are 8, 5, and 3 and I'm still waiting for them to stay still! Try getting a small mirror, buzzing toy, for him to hold! Try putting the radio on, dancing, giving him a book? Tippy cup of water? Hummmm I don't know what else to suggest. I think eventually you will learn how to change him no matter what the circumstances --upside-down and all!

This made me smile :) I have the same problem but I have found that really involving him in the process has helped. I hand him a wipe to hold while I put some aside for myslef. Then at the end after I have his diaper under him I ask him for his wipe and thank him for his help. After we are all done I let him through the diaper away. It really makes them feel independant. Hope this helps. It may take a few times to catch on but it will.

Shes at that age, oh and that they on no account come out of it..... I could bribe my wee lady to get her bum replaced. What to do is distract her, with the aid of conversing to her approximately some thing, her fav comic strip character or what you the two are gonna to that day, placed her right into a happy temper, consistent with danger say to her that she would manage to play along with her favourit toy on a similar time as you alter her. My wee lady is now 2 and that i'm now previous the nappy point yet, it is going onto the hair, i could provide her a banana each morning on a similar time as I do her hair. the joys of Parenthood !

Good luck, my 10 month old is a dynamo and we have to tag team changing him because he is so active & strong (he's the size of a 2 yr old, 26 lbs, 34 inches). You have to find something for him/her to hold onto that really captures their attention. For my son it's the TV remote (figures huh?), but even that doesn't always work. Keep distractions to a minimum so they can focus. Best of luck.

I would try pull ups. A while back my daughter didn't want to lay still but I was able to get her to stand still long enough for pull ups to work. Go for the pull ups with out the easy open sides (they always figure those out).

one year old they know exactly what is being done and they know that they need to lie still getting changed, just be firm.

under one year old is a different story they dont understand and wriggle the whole time, but after one yr old they do understand whats happening and they have plently of time to wriggle after being changed.
