Jesus was tortured with excessive bloodiness. The lashes with a cat-o-nine-tails was horrible, with bits of glass and metal imbedded in the whip to tear the flesh. He took 39 lashes. Then a crown of thorns (the type bing a long, sharp kind of thorn) was put on his head.... and pushed down into it.

What made you think it was a casual walk in the park?

The movie is a reminder of what He really suffered for us....a gift of salvation and perfect love. It depicts what he taught when He said, "No greater love has anyone than this; that he lay down his life for his friends."

God Bless,

Sue

It shows everyone the other side of the story.Many churches today have pastors who leave out the bad parts.They teach cotton candy Christianity,and leave people wondering about the rest of the story.The passion movie is one of the better depictions of just how awful life was back then.The Romans didn't do that to just Jesus,that was an everyday occurance for criminals.

Just like on this forum.We all must show both sides of the coin to all who reads.

Peace be unto you.

i'm a Christian and i did NOT like the movie. i will never watch it again. BUT it did go along with what happened to Jesus in the Bible. maybe mel gibson just wanted it to be as real as possible and maybe some people like that, and others just can't handle the reality of it all.

I can't answer for all Christians, only for myself. It was a depiction of what my Lord and Savior did for me! It gave me pause to think about how my sins affect, not only myself and others, but God Himself. It made me really reflect Jesus' sacrifice. What is even more compelling is that, while the physical pain was excruciating, the separation from God the Father when all sin was placed upon Him was even worse. It makes me not want to ever sin again.

it's not the story that we like, it's the demonstration of love. When Christ died on the cross, that wasn't the end because He rose from the grave. The movie is a good reminder of what Christ went through for all of mankind.

It relates to His Passion. Equally important as anything Jesus said is what He did.

BTW, I didn't like the movie.

Heb 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

the movie was never about Christs teaching, guess you didn't research any of that huh?
the movie was to depict exactly what it showed and that's the suffering that Christ took upon Himself for the likes of you.
