Many people don't think of an animal as a significant living being. Many feel that they are replaceable, trendy for the time being and fail to realize the amount of responsibility invovled in owning and caring for a pet. Cats tend to be more independent, so many people assume that they can do just fine on their own..... sad isn't it.

Yes I agree,
People abuse cats because they don't want the responsibility of looking after them. Other abuses would be not feeding them,
cats or animals are like human because they need nuturing love and attention. If a person will not devote time to look after a cat or any pet don't bother having a cat.

Besides the fact a lot of people are not very bright, cats have had a bad rep since man has remembered....be it a witches familiar, due to its shining eyes at night, or the fact people use to believe that cats sucked the life from their infants as agents of the devil. Not to mention that their cousins would eat us humans in a blink of an eye if we wandered into the wilderness. So again people are mean to cats for many reasons.. superstition or stupidstition take your pick...

Because these days cats are a dime a dozen. Here in Canada, farmers have to take their guns and shoot them because they are so over populated. Because people do not FIX THEIR PETS people see that there is so many of them that they are not worth anything. Why seek vet care when you can have a new cat before the old one is in the ground?

These horrible people don't realize what a great pet cats are. They also may really like cats and never got theirs spayed/neutered. As a result of people like this I have 3 cats( they were all homeless and found different times) even though I risk getting evicted everyday, my landlord doesn't allow pets, but its worth it to me.

Because they're pathetic, cruel, and heartless. Some of those people who abuse animals, also abuse their spouses as well as their kids...or parents, or brothers and sisters..It's called antisocial personality disorder. Those kind of people end up in prison...or worse, killed..
