Isn't this the main reason? I mean women thinking they don't have to submit to their husband as head of the household and instead do their own thing?

Sure, maybe. But maybe it would be down also if MEN would stop demanding this "deserved" obedience from women. A relationship consists of two people, not one. In this relationship, there should be equality. I do agree that this could be one reason why divorce rates are up. But in a different perspective. Ever since the beginning of time, women have had less rights than men. Often times, even if they were abused or raped, women have had to remain quiet, because sometimes they couldn't initiate the divorce. This sadly happens in many poor countries, today. Hence, now that women are given these rights, they are able to divorce. They are able to speak their mind and thus the gap between equality among women and men is closing in.

No. Men are too stupid to realize that divorce has been on the rise since women liberation. The divorce rate would be lower if men stopped treating their wives badly. Back in the day women didn't work and had to put up with his bs. Today they have their own money and ability to leave the garbage behind. Its stupid men like you who keep driving the divorce rate up. Women are not dogs to be obedient and they weren't put on this earth to do sh*t for you, you stupid *ss.

Finally yes yes yes dude i totally agree i have asked this countless times. Look at the 1950's women did what they were told and could be beaten if they didnt. And surprise surprise divorce rate was a hell of a lot lower. Thank you for being the only person who can see the truth. I say we burn the 19th amendment and take things back to the way things were. woman should stay in the kitchen, clean the house watch the kids and spread their legs not to difficult. Thats is what mrs. cleaver did in leave it to beaver and look how happy that family was. you are a good man

Yeah, and it would be lower still if some husbands didn't cheat, beat their wives and children, or expect their wife to be not only wife, housekeeper, cook, mother, but mother to them and co-supporter of the family as well. Plus it would be a lot lower if both parties concerned understood and agreed to what the other expected of them prior to getting married, instead of rushing in blindly in a haze of rosy expectations and then demanding that the other person change to their specifications.

If that were true, the rate of MEN would be lower. If more people kept their relationships 50/50, ensuring equal satisfaction, relationships would last longer. This is why I'm staying single — I won't have to deal with any of that crap.

Screw you! The divorce rate would be lower if men like you would get off their lazy fat asses and helped out around the house and with the kids, instead of sitting on the ******* couch deinking beer watching tv, or out with you buddies getting drunk and cheating on us!

nah...be much lower if the men didn't sit in their recliners and ask "where's dinner" as soon as the wife walks in the door from work.
or she didn't have to pick up his dirty clothes....or hey..who's taking the garbage out..

nah..women be obedient...then things would really go to hell because men don't know what needs to be done in the first place.
:)
