First, I am not implying that homosexuality is a bad or good thing. Please, if you are homosexual or sensitive to the subject, try not to knee-jerk a response just yet.

Dictionary.com - "Homosexual" - 2. of the same sex. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/homosexual

"Homo" is used in scientific terms like "homologous" which means "having the same relation".

So what would you call a community where the sexes are stictly separated? Isnt the most accurate word "homo-sexual". That is, the 'same' 'sexes' are kept together. The reason isnt important in terms of taxonomy.

Obviously, because of political correctness, and the implied threat, you wont see mainstream usage of the phrase "homosexual communities" when speaking about Islamic countries or Islamic norms, but its neverthless accurate.

Some might think this doesnt matter, but with every new country Jihadists overthrow, dont you think people have a right to better understand their culture?

That makes sense. I dont think any one will see it that way thou. In Saudi Arabia, homosexuality is a crime punishable by death. This includes acting gay. You might be straight but if you act woman like you will be punished but you wont be executed for that.

I can tell you being a muslim woman and having travelled to "islamic countries". The separation is for respect and concentration. Say a group of men are working on building an office building. A beautiful woman walks by and distracts them, causing them to make mistakes. They end up wasting more time and money fixing it. This is just a very very meager example to explain a bit. Women have a very high status in the religion of Islam. I know you don't hear about it because the propagandists like to harp about our veils, but we CHOOSE to wear them and I love wearing mine.

If you were a very respectful man and you were married, would you want men checking out your wife, undressing her with their eyes, and having fantasies about her? I hope not. It's all about respect, and they're not separate all of the time. Just around strangers. If it's a family, they're the same as anyone else. Sitting together, eating meals together, all of that good stuff. It's just when a stranger is in the home or anything like that. Even in public, men and women are mixed together. It's only in the case of visitors.

Yeah. Spartans were more seperatist than Islam. So gay!

Tris, you need to talk a walk in the sunshine. Do a little christmas shopping. Have some eggnog for the luvagod! This constant hating on Islam is actually causing me to like them MORE! I'm tempted to get a new Christmas Burqua in your honor!

In orthodox Judiasm, women are generally separated from the men in social gatherings and during prayer.

However- it's a mitzvah (good deed) to get married and have sex with your wife... for her pleasure.

so- at least in this case- I'd say 'no'.

Pedantry aside, semantics of homosexuality refer to same-sex attraction. So, in answer to your question: not at all.
