A certain someone said that they think all religion is a farce, but they're okay with it, but they don't want to hear anyone's crap. But that's a load of crap in and of itself isn't it? After all, would we really be here, arguing with people who have opposing viewpoints if we didn't want to hear each others crap? We all want to feel smarter, feel that we're right, feel that we can prove it. Right?
Well, okay, some of these arguements are just "I want to be left alone" so in order to be left alone, you have to cease being left alone. Okay, I can buy that. But there are so many questions asked by Christians to atheists (and vice versa) on here that are then ANSWERED by the people being asked, who supposedly want to be left alone. So where's the consistency? I know I answer questions because I like to present logical arguments, even if the subject matter is based on false or unproven premises. What's your excuse?

Some people with strong beliefs seem to have a need to constantly try to validate or justify those beliefs by putting their opinion forward as absolute fact. For those folks, I guess being "right" is better than being left alone. It's just another form of arrogance, IMO.
I have my own belief system. It's mine alone. Not necessarily any more "right" than anyone elses. I respect others right to believe whatever they wish, and expect the same courtesy in return.
I like logic - it makes sense to me :-)

I enjoy good, intelligent debate on the issue, from either side. What I do not like and wonder why it occurs, is the insulting that goes on on both sides. If we could just discuss the opposing viewpoints and respect the other's opinion without resorting to namecalling and the "i'm right, you're wrong" mentality, it would be great. Unfortunately, there are too many close-minded people on both sides of the argument for that to ever happen. SO we must muddle through the idiocy and try to sort out the well thought out points that occassionaly pop up

Lets adopt the old saying in the local bars. No religion or politics spoken here. We can argue these points till the cows come home & never resolve anything. Anyone with a strong belief either way will not be swayed by the other sides point of view. Why bother!
Both sides spew a load of crap to one extent or the other.

You're right. If we didn't want to "hear each other's crap" we wouldn't be here--or shouldn't be.
I personally am very interested in reading the opinions of others, both religious and non-religious. I'm not so childish that I can't stand for people to have opinions that don't agree with mine. To the contrary, it's by considering new possibilities that we grow.

Personally, I think the atheists make this the most interesting section in here! Argue it up I say! There's a lot of heavy thinking in here and I like it!
For the record, I'm Christian.

It is a conspiracy theory. The Illumanti are controlling to Oil...and the Free Masons have bricked up the true bible.
So we all look at each with open eyes and point harshly.

Christians are compelled and told by God to spread the news. I for one am not bothered by atheists' attacks...all I know is that the messages that I place in this forum may save ONE person, or at least make them think enough to get on that road. Believe it or not, there are some people who have not heard the message of Christ, so it is my duty, as a Christian, to tell them. It is the most loving thing that I could do for them.
God bless.

This is on the same wavelength as "why do atheists come to the R&S section," which I'm okay with - it just gets asked way too much.
I'm here to debate, make points, and at least see if people can follow along. If they read and it goes through their head, great. If they reject it outright, great - at least it went through their heads.
The "crap" I can't stand is the "real-life" stuff. JW's come to mind. At least if I get tired on here, I can just click the "X" in the corner. :P

I wish that insead of the insults and scoffing, there could be exchange of ideas and thoughts. Too bad that for some it is a frightening experience to have there belief or disbelief questioned. There isn't going to be any conversions going on here one way or the other. It is interesting to me though, to find out what others think and why they think that way.
