My mom and I do it differently, but we both have the same results. Here's how I boil eggs:
Put eggs in pot (doesn't matter how many) and fill pot with water until the eggs are covered. Put a lid on the pot and put it over medium heat until the lid starts bopping around (the water is boiling - do not remove the lid, the pressure is important). Once the water is boiling, turn off the heat and let the pot sit for 15-20 minutes. Again, do not remove the lid! After the 15-20 minutes, remove the lid and let cool water run over the eggs until they are cool enough to touch and peel.
Good luck! Great question! It'll be interesting to see how many different ways there are to boil eggs.

It does not matter how many eggs you boil, they need the same amount of time, what you need to be careful about, is that the water needs to cover all the eggs in order for them to cook evenly.
Here's how l do it: cover however many eggs you want to boil with cold water. Bring to a boil and let it boil for about 8 to 10 minutes depending on the size of your eggs. Then cool and enjoy.

You may need a little more water. You just need to cover the eggs i nthe pan. It will take longer to get the water to a boil as there is more to boil, but the simmer time should be the same.

I am a great cook..educated in the skill & proud of it!.....however I have 2 problems....perfect rice & hard boiled eggs! These two things have never turned out right for me. A few tears ago I learned two tricks that really work for me (this is for hard boiled)...first, to get them to cook properly & not get that dark ring around the yolk when you open them. And second to get the damn things to peel properly! (That one always got to me!). First don't try to boil fresh eggs! No kidding! They need to be at least 2-3 days old. Think Easter when you go & buy 3 dozen eggs fresh, take 'em home, cook 'em, dye 'em (very pretty & ALOT of work). Easter egg hunt, delighted children & then the peeling begins! Lumps of eggs sticking to the shells that the kids are trying to peel (that skin thing sticking to everything) they get frustrated & throw them down. So okay you go to make egg salad to get it over with & you feel just like the kids! 3 day old eggs will solve that. Next boiling: cover as many eggs as you want to cook in a pan to acomodate with cold water to cover. Bring to a boil, then TURN OFF THE HEAT! Let 'em sit for 20 mins. not covered. Then cool as fast as possible. Good luck! PS Eggs always work better when room tempurature to begin (many people will tell you otherwise) but I've found it to be true especially if your recipe needs to rise, like soufles or popovers or fluffy omelets.

Okay, I just learned this the other day. You start with cold eggs and cold water. Put enough water just to cover the eggs. Then turn on the stove and heat the water to boiling. You count how many eggs you have then subtract one to figure out how many minutes to boil them for. However, this also depends on if you want them hard boiled, soft boiled, or medium boiled. This method is supposed to be for hard boiled. Run them under cold water after the time is up so that they stop cooking inside.

I would add maybe another two minutes, and make sure your using a large enough pot so that they have room to move around, and heat can be evenly distrbuted. Once they start to boil, turn them off and let them sit in the hot water for about 5-10 mins then run under cool water and peel and eat.

It would depend on the hardness of the yolk you prefer. For a soft set yolk you'll want to boil up to a dozen eggs for 5-7 minutes. For solid yolks the time would be 10 minutes.
