Some people think the definition is straight forward, but once you start to look at it, at least from the view point of other cultures, you might be suprised.

In the west, homosexuality is generally considered to be: any sexual conduct, that arouses men, between men. A homosexual in the west, may be any man who can be aroused by other men.

However, consider this from the viewpoint of Islamic communities. Under Islamic law, homosexual conduct is punishable by death. However, Islamic scripture specifies the act of anal intercourse as the act which merits death, and thus, this is what is largely understood as "homosexuality".

In any Islamic country in the world, it is very common to see men holding hands, sitting on each others laps, or kissing generously. This is quite a bit different than what you might see in Eurpopean communities that dont stifle heterosexual norms as Islamic communities do.

Europeans will occasionally kiss on the cheek, but these are not norms as they are in the Islamic world.

Ironically, despite the fact that Islamic countries have plenty of homosexual affection in public, it is the west which is most tolerant of homosexuality as a lifestyle.

The west is willing to recognize homosexual rights, where Islam creates a homosexual environment, but doesnt allow rights to attach to the very conduct it creates because of the extreme separation of sexes in Islamic communities.

As a homosexual male I can clearly state that I am homosexual because I have desire to be emotionally connected/bonded to a male and the male form excites my sex drive/libido. THe female form does nor excite my sex drive/libido and I do not understand nor have desire to connect with women emotionally.

It isn't just fundamentalist Islamic cultures which encourage such close displays of affection between members of the same sex. In some parts of Asia and Africa, one will also find that in spite of marriage, a lot of men or women tend to bond more, on an emotional level, with their own gender as a result of segregation of the sexes. It's a bit like a prison environment without the actual act of gay sex.
I think bisexuality is probably more of the norm in such circumstances, whereas being strictly gay or just hetero is to be in a minority. That's just my opinion though.

The Bible consistently tells us that homosexual activity is a sin (Genesis 19:1-13; Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9). Romans 1:26-27 teaches specifically that homosexuality is a result of denying and disobeying God. When a person continues in sin and disbelief, the Bible tells us that God “gives them over” to even more wicked and depraved sin in order to show them the futility and hopelessness of life apart from God. 1 Corinthians 6:9 proclaims that homosexual “offenders” will not inherit the kingdom of God.

God does not create a person with homosexual desires. The Bible tells us that a person becomes a homosexual because of sin (Romans 1:24-27), and ultimately because of their own choice. A person may be born with a greater susceptibility to homosexuality, just as people are born with a tendency to violence and other sins. That does not excuse the person choosing to sin by giving into their sinful desires. If a person is born with a greater susceptibility to anger / rage, does that make it right for then to give into those desires? Of course not! The same is true for homosexuality.

However, the Bible does not describe homosexuality as a “greater” sin than any other. All sin is offensive to God. Homosexuality is just one of the many things listed in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 that will keep a person from the kingdom of God. According to the Bible, God’s forgiveness is just as available to a homosexual as it is to an adulterer, idol worshipper, murderer, thief, etc. God also promises the strength for victory over sin, including homosexuality, to all those who will believe in Jesus Christ for their salvation (1 Corinthians 6:11; 2 Corinthians 5:17).

There's a difference between homosexual action and homosexual state of mind. It's kind of the difference between having sex with someone, and fantasizing about them.

The definition of homosexual changes from context to context, which I'll admit is a flaw in the language, and that's definitely something that throw curveballs into logical discourse about the topic.

Aw Tris! It's not fair to get a girls hopes up like this.

Here I thought you were going to branch out a little! Start hating on homosexuality and stop beating the "I Hate Islam" drum! But...it's the same old drum with a new drumstick.

If you are a man, and you want to have sexual contact with another man, you are a homosexual.

Signs of affection are different than sexual contact.

Having a desire, and acting upon that desire, are two different things.

Since Jesus and the male friends he was always hanging out with were most probably gay, it shows that religious fanatics that suffer from homophobia are religiously wrong.
