About 6 years back i was at the lowest anyone could get. I Felt like crying for no reason and just wanting to give up. But the one thing I never gave up was my job. Having something to do each day really helped. I'm now onto my second house having renovated the first and i'm getting married to the most amazing person next october after 5 years together. It does and will get better. Just dont look to far ahead take each day as it comes. And keep your friend and family close.

I agree with cowboy573. The easiest thing in the world when you're feeling so low is to just give up on everything, but it is important to have some reason to get out of bed on a morning and continue with some sort of 'normal' routine. Otherwise you just continue to spiral.
Try to keep in mind that things will improve, easy for me to say i know, but i have been where you are. I hit rock bottom before i started to crawl back up again, and it was a slow process. Just take each day at a time and congratulate yourself for getting through it!
If you need someone to give you a boost, drop me an email through here, i'd be glad to help - i remember what it was like.

I also suffer with depression, & have had it more many years. I have realized that no matter how depressed I get I can't change anything. I don't know how you feel, but for me is not about just sadness, it's depair, a sense of doom & no hope for the future.
I've realized I cannot afford the luxury of a negative thought, it's too high a price to pay. Even if things r going badly, being positive makes u be able 2 deal with them better.

Don't allow yourself to be nagative & don't label yourself as depressed. You might be just going through a depressed phase.
I also read lots of inspiring books which helps. I feel the root vause of depression is losing your personal power & not standing up for yourself & people opressing u & hence being de-pressed.

Please fell free to email me if u need 2 chat (through my homepage)

This time of the year is the worst for this.
Try sitting under a bright white light for long periods.
On the herbal side, I have 5/6 flowers (white) from the 'Busy Lizzy' plant and 5/6 fresh Indian basil leaves, every morning first thing after I have brushed my teeth.
This gives me 'positivity' and I do not feel depressed about things.
Try it, you have nothing to lose. Only your symptoms.

Know there's people out there wishing you well man. Depression's an itchy, annoying thing, I know. You know if you feel like a chat you don't even need to pick up the phone - you can email jo@samaritans.org .They blast advice at you, or get all preachy or religious or anything, but they're pretty good at chatting when you need to chat, or just rant or whatever.

Good luck bruv.
