In a cockatoo size cage it is just the normal size cage you would use for a cockatoo. In N.S.W Australia

I don't know if it's illegal or not, but I would not keep a chicken in a cage made for a parrot.

I can't figure out why someone would have a chicken in a cage and not a coup.
Are they doing something weird with the chicken?
Is it the attention that they are wanting?
There is no reason for a chicken to be in a cage except for travel.
Chickens just aren't made to be in cages.
When I was a kid there was a chicken in a big box thing that had a kiddie piano in it and when you put in a quarter the chicken would jump down and peck at the keys for 10 seconds or so and then a 1/4 cup of chicken food would fall into a bowl for it.
I'm sure they didn't keep that piano playin' chicken in there all day,
But she sure was a pretty chicken....smart too.
That was like 35 yrs ago.
You wouldn't dare do that to a chicken these days.
If the only place they have to keep the chicken is in the bird cage ..then, that chicken really needs to go live somewhere that a chicken should be living.
With other chickens in a chicken yard and coup.
Good luck. You are probably the only hope that chicken has to being a happy chicken.
Crap on the people...help the chicken.
It seems that you are like one of those folks that would let it bother the heck out of you untill you did something right for that chicken.

Certain neighborhoods (like where I live in the US) do not allow certain animals which usually include: horses, goats, chickens, cows, etc.

Check with your local council, they can answer any questions, but more to the point check with RSPCA and see what they say.
