I think the age to move out depends upon you and your parents. If it works for both of you to stay there until you get more money, then it's fine. Some nationalities continue to live in their parents house even when they get married so they can save enough money for a house etc. If your parents are feeling crowded or you're in a relationship and want to move out, the decision is between the two of you. I don't think there is a set age.

Can't afford better? Can't afford BETTER? Of course not! You should expect to live less comfortably when you move out. If that was the criteria for moving out of parents' homes, most people wouldn't move out until their mid-30s or so, when their careers are well-established. Moving out from the parents' home is not about stepping up your living conditions -- it's about maturity, responsibility, and independence, which are ideals worth much more than money or comfort.

Move out when you can do so responsibly -- which means having a solid financial standing. It's not the age that's important, it's your position.
Remember that in past times, people just didn't move out. My mom grew up with both her parents AND her mom's parents. This used to be pretty common and is still common in much of the world.

I honestly feel if you don't have the duckets to live on your own, while living with moms & pops you should at least pay rent, food, keep your room clean, and respect the household. Don't use the home as a hotel for booty calls. Also, make it a point to set a date to move out and set goals as for money in a savings account. Use this time, don't abuse it.

As long as you have a job and you're not mooching off them, stay there until you can get on your feet. When you hit 24 though, you should get out anyway - unless your parents need you.

When they say it is. There is no sense in going out into the world unprepared. As long as you are not just playing video games in the basement all day, good for you for giving yourself a little boost.
