YES! Caffiene is an extremely addictive stimulant. The withdrawl effects usually include irritability and headaches - especially one that people describe as "a split right down the middle of the forehead."

The effects do wear off after about 3 days, and some light caffiene during that time can help ease the effects of withdrawl. I'm talking tea or buffered aspirins when the headaches become tough.

This answer is likely to be controversial. Addiction implies that a person will seek a substance to the detriment of their health. Some people can have that problem with caffeine. Since caffeine in modest amounts in most people does not cause health problems, it is not usually consider addictive.

If you use caffeine regularly, it is common to experience some mild withdrawal symptoms. Generally this is limited to a mild headache. In some instances the headache can be severe and associated with nausea.

Absolutely. caffeine is a drug and can have withdrawal symptoms similar to having the flu (headache, lack of energy. etc.) Based on the number of people who drink coffee and caffienated drinks you can bet that addiction rates are fairly high.

Caffeine is an "upper." It makes you feel good. If you drink a lot of caffeine, your body gets adjusted to having that in there and therefore releases fewer hormones that make you feel good and fewer things to keep you naturally awake. When you remove the caffeine from your system, your body is not prepared for the letdown and you go through withdrawals.

The same goes for other drugs, like cigarettes.

It is VERY common, especially where I live. I'm a college student, and we live off of caffeine because they expect us to do HOURS of homework every night.

Yes. Caffeine (use spell check, please) is a stimulant, and as few as 3 cups of brewed coffee daily can create a physical addiction that causes a headache if you stop drinking it. I drink several cups a day, and find that it increases the acuity of thought and helps me to concentrate. But woe to me if i don't drink ANY for a day, as it gives me a terrible headache, that is relieved when I drink more coffee.
