>> jesus is the reason for the season

Wrong. Axial tilt is the reason for the season. Or possibly the pagans. Feel free to pick one.

The reason for the Christ Mass is the birth of Jesus (for Christians). However - do you know the actual origins of Christmas?

A quick history lesson regarding some of the ancient pagan traditions of the holiday season that have endured to this day.

I thought I would elaborate more on where Christmas really comes from. It's a tradition that goes back LONG before the Abrahamic religions were even thought of.

Saturnalia - it was the feast where the Romans commemorated the dedication of the temple of the god Saturn, which took place on 17 December. During this time it was also customary to decorate trees and special offering logs. Over the years Saturnalia expanded to a whole week, and ran through to the 23rd of December. In the vagaring Roman calendar the Winter Solstice (celebration of the birth of the Sun) fell in this period; in imperial times that event was celebrated in honour of Sol Invictus and put on 25 December by emperor Aurelian in 274, after the Saturnalia.

During Saturnalia it was custom to give presents to family and friends, most often in the form of food.

Then, in Mithraism, on the 25th, they celebrated the birth of the God Mithras (born in a cave via a virgin mother). Mithraism predates Christianity by 15 centuries.

The Christians decided to place Christmas on the 25th of December to convert all the Pagans of the time to Christianity using some of the Pagan mythology and practices to make it look like it was a similar thing. That way the Pagans would convert more readily.

So no one should feel guilty or excluded when celebrating the holiday season even if they're not of any of the Abrahamic faiths. The end of year celebration of the solstice, birth, generosity, and good will towards our fellow man is a HUMAN tradition that goes back a long time and it seems to me there is nothing wrong in partaking regardless what you believe.

Great and God bless you too. Did you know the word SANTA is only a transposing of the letters that spell Satan???? This way santa gets the credit for the gifts, etc.
Where it is only God that truly provides. Santa cant save you, nor does he answer prayer or anything else. This is a myth perpetuated by the pagins. and so much of what we think is pure and Christian in the celebraton of Christmas is evil and from pagin sources. do a study on it. read some Christian books where this has been studied, same with other holidays too. and NO, I am not a Jehovah Wittness. I am a full gospel Christian, believing in all of the Bible and Bible alone. But, this is all pagan and has zero to do with God. only ways to be drinking and eating too much and getting prsents. all matieraiism and pride.
Nor is it the real day Jesus was born. we dont even know that, but scholars believe it was in the spring.
Its not about presents or materialism, eating too much food and boozing it up.
At our home, we celebrate it without any of the traditional trappings. and no materialism. It is a day we set aside to worship God in a special way, To celebrate not only His birth, but His life, His death and the resurrection, for in that we have our blessed hope. I dont mean we celebrate His death, like that was good. BUt, if HE hadnt died, we couldnt live for eternity in heaven with HIM. Jesus is the reason for the season, the ONLY reason, and ppl need to get that and understand it, and give Jesus the respect, honor and love He deserves. to continue the pagin practices makes God weep and I want no part of that. Same with easter. study up on the eggs and all of it. go back to Christmas for a second. the tree, represents a tall erect penis, that is the God of pagan fertility, long story , but fascinating. This is how they worship that god.... and yet, we Christians almost all have an erect Christmas tree. HMMMMMMM? we will be forgiven because we dont KNOW. But God wont forgive if we dont try to learn. Great question. Press on with Jesus. These questions make us think and thats always a good thing.
This year, celebrate Jesus with all new meaning, that its only about HIM. and remember Jesus is coming SOON, and ask AM I READY YET. IN these last days, we will be tried to see if we are fully Gods or fully not. God calls us to obedience and purity, not to continue willful sinnning and thinking grace has it all covered. God Forbid, was His response to that question.....
Celebrate Christmas this year with incredible peace, and love that only comes from Him, and forget all the materialism and paganism. Make Jesus smile this year.... Hallelujah.

Christmas is a pagan holiday that has been incorperated into the christian faith. God detest such christ was not born in this season period. The whole tree worship thing can from a german religion and God has told his people not to bring a tree into there homes in the new testiment. That said christians use this holiday to inform people about the birth of Christ. The best gift ever given to mankind. Which is good. Not with standing they are still disobident in that they bless there own house first over the needs of the Lord to be living epistals to the world. As christians our lives are to like the jews in that we are to keep our self unspotted from the world. Yeat most christians are like pok-a-dot shirts.

This festive season is actually paganism kept alive. Any encyclopedia verifies that. The catholic encyclopedia brags about it and other functions being 'traditions of men'.

It's unscriptural and like anything else that is tainted, not accepted.

1Co 10:21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons.

Col 2:8 See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.

Exaclty Right. Although they would like to change that. Just like they hate one Nation under God in the National Anthem. Jesus is the reason for Christmas.

nope. It's Yule, the celebration of Winter Solstice, a holiday that long predates your Jesus, who most scholars (including Christians) do not believe was born anywhere near December.

um perhaps u should look up what christmas ACTUALLY is. it is actually derived from a pagan holliday, the tree is a pagan symbol of renewal of life. the eating of ham, the holly, the mistletoe, the giving of presents, are alll pagan traditions." the only thing christian about christmas is that you pretend christ was born on this day, which every biblical scholar knows christ wasnt actually born on december 25th.
