I am in charge of decorating at work. Half the workers are jewish and the rest are christian/catholic. Out of respect i want toput up both a tree and a manora. I know chanukah is not until the 15th, so what candles should be on there now? Should it be empty or just put in the center one?

You may leave it empty for now, but you may also put all nine candles in their places without kindling them.

Just to add to the suggestions about buying candles at the supermarket - in my neighborhood supermarket the candles are usually in the ethnic food section, with all the Manischewitz products. They might put them out in a display closer to Chanukah, but just in case I didn't want you wandering around the supermarket for 40 years (that would be a different holiday.)

Good luck and Happy Holidays!

I am Jewish. If you want to put up the Menorah right now you can set it on the table without any candles. You can go to any grocery store and they should have Hanukkah candles. They are either multi colored or blue and white. On the first night you light the middle one and the one on the far right. On the second night you would have the one in the middle and the first two, from right to left.

Leave it empty for now. Many groceries have Chanukah candles. They come in a small box and are assorted colors (not white). If the groceries don't have them, I forget what other stores, but they're common.

Most supermarkets sell Hanuka candles; they come in a small blue box, and fit most menorahs.
Another option is to buy one of those pre-lit menorahs which have light bulbs for candles. Good luck, and happy holidays!:)

well, before you send an email out asking how to find a manora, you might want to learn how to spell the word

You might want to involve one or more of the jewish co-workers in your project. It will show that you care for their special holidays, and their feelings.

Little white votive type candles.

Me personally, I'd put sparklers - but don't because that might offend someone.
