Why doesn't the USA do a navel blockade like JFK did against Cuba ?

We could refuse to let any ships through which were carrying nuclear weapons bound for Iran.

The problem here is that Iran is making the bombs not importing them and they have a huge land border with countries like Pakistan to do there trading through if we blockaded. It should be noted that any blockade would be seen as an act of war and would likely end with the destruction of the refineries and oil fields not the best way to go if you ask me.

It was a completely different situation with Cuba. Cuba is completely surrounded by water so the Soviets had to transport the weapons by ship. Iran is surrounded by land on 3 sides so if the US would blockade Iran, the Iranians could just transport the weapon by truck or plane.

Iran is NOT an island...you can blockade a country that has a small coastline and expect that will stop all shipments. They would get supplies from their neighbors linked by roads.

Two reasons why not,
1. Iran is not an island. Cuba is.

2. More importantly, Iran's Nuclear program is being developed IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY, so their are no 'ships to stop'.

Iran is not surrounded by water.

Tyler: North Korea has a Nuke, which is a problem. But Iran is the one who actually wants to use it.

We need their oil and they are showing that all dealings in the Middle East should go through them. They will be a super power in the Middle East one way or the other.
Not to mention that they are trying to develop nuclear weapons, not buy them.

Pissing them off will hurt us more than them.

Supposedly Iran's nuclear program is for peace...why speak of it more?
Unless we agree there is something to talk about...if thats the case I sense you'd agree a problem is brewing there. If they end up having say in the fate of Iraq, things will get foul real quick.
Even if we have to place direct threats on them, we can't let that happen.
They will lead the middle east to hell.

the problem isn't so much iran importing nukes, as it is iran making them. bisides that, they have thousands of miles of borders with syria and iraq where they could bring in nukes

MANY REGARD NAVAL BLOCKADES AS AN ACT OF WAR.
