Yes. Violent retching, vomiting, coughing or sneezing can cause the pressure in conjunctival (white part) vessels to get high enough for the vessels to rupture. Generally this is not a serious problem, but if the bleeding goes into the lens it can cause problems with your vision. Therefore it is best if you see you personal doctor or an eye doctor.

For some odd reason everytime I throw up my eyes end up being bloodshot red, so yes this does happen.

Pray and take him to other doctors. My son had a bad strep thoart which turned into scarlet fever and I had took him to the 2 diff. ER's and my doctors office they said he was fine, just a common cold. Three days later he couldn't move or cry cause he was in so much pain. I rushed to the ER 1 and 1/2 hours from my house and they told me he had a case of Scarlet fever. I always get second opinions.

I was bulimic, so I know it definitely can!! Not good.
There are a lot of things that can cause bloodshot eyes, but that always does it for me.

I have the affliction of having the blood vessels burst around my eyes. It looks like I have 2 black eyes. It only last for a couple of days.

Extreme vomitus (like food poisoning) can. I had three broken blood vessels in my right eye and one in my left from Taco Time (don't eat the chicken!!).

Just kidding taco Time affiliates/employees/franchise owners.

Yes, If you drink, I think thats what causes it. It's not the act of throwing up, it the drinking. My brother drinks alot, and when he throws up he gets little red bumps around his eyes. It;s the strain I believe. But that's just what i think.

yes, too much effort can pop the little vains in your eyes. this won't levae you blind but be carefull.
