I get the same reaction! Ty loves his collar. He tries to chew off his "sister's" collar, though.
I think it's attention, the possibility of walkies.

My dog love’s his collar too. Its only off for brushing and baths so I know its not due to going for a walk (he has a harness for that) and he will bring it to us if we forgot to put it back on when we are done. My personal theory on this is that he just likes to wear it and its his thing. He loves it when we put in his bandanas too. Especially a new one! So maybe your dog just loves having “pretties” on and so he or she gets excited to have them put on. I know Petie does (My AB).

She is telling you if you put that on me we are going to play, walk, or visit some place, and maybe some treats will be with the event.

Because she thinks she is going for a walk and she is going to play with you and she is showing appreciation for it not giving you a hard time to do something and then do something fun for here

I think they just get used to it and feel comfortable with it. Does it make noise? Your dog might be used to making that extra noise when he runs around and scratches his fur. My dog would do that when I would put her leash on, because she knew it meant she'd go outside.

lol., I am the total oppisite. my dog is not wanting to have one on, it is choking him, and he hates it. he likes having a free neck. That is why we don't jabe collars on him. but we do when he hunts and when we take him for walks.
