Some few might be doing this. However, most come here to shut out the voice of God calling them by following the lies of the Prince of this world who hates both God and His children.

And once again it is useless trying to have a rational argument with such people who claim everything is their side of the argument and nothing is ours. It's like Freudianism it is frustrating trying to disprove it because anyone not agreeing to it is considered "in denial". Same thing here, you really think we're all searching for your god? I know right where he is supposed to be, but i find i'm having a better time not believing in him.
What if I were to turn Christian? I would have to give up:
My sunday mornings
My tolerance of homosexuals
My belief that pre-marital sex is not a sin between two consenting adults
My ability to make my own decision
My right to choose what i think is right and wrong
And for what? Nothing I can prove, being physically no different than i was before, mentally more shut off from what I have come to realise about my own decision because for the sake of it i must deny them and emotionally no garuntee that I'll be any happier than i am now, which is pretty darn god.
Seems very one sided deal to me, I'll pass

This is an interesting question. Let me start by saying that I am neither Christian nor Atheist. I don't follow a particular religion because I have yet to find one that makes sense to me.
I do make sarcastic comments, but only towards people who don't seem to have respect for those who don't share their beliefs. It is a stand against their un-Christian acts of pride and judgement. (I was Catholic for YEARS and went to Catholic school, so I am not uneducated on the subject).
People who only spend time on the religion boards, spending all that time making sarcastic comments DO need to find something better to do. However, people on both ends need to realize that they are not wise enough to a) KNOW that they are right and b) judge others' morality (unless they, you know, killed someone in cold blood).
And who is this enemy? Do you mean Satan? I don't feel that Satan has a hold on me. (Then again, I don't believe in Satan or hell. That's a long rant that's unrelated to this.) I feel that I need more knowledge about myself, the universe, and my beliefs before I can make a good decision about religion. I do believe there is a god, but I don't pretend to know his/her/it's name. Does that make sense?

once in a while there is an honest seeker visiting here. I have had email from some... most will not return here though.. the comments I have received from honest seekers are very negative towards this YA place...this is not my first incarnation here... I have had contacts in the past here... I returned to see if I could reestablish some of those conections...but they are all gone it seems...

Many say that they know the Lord, but do not. For which person who knows the Lord, would attempt to pass judgment on the soul of another.
One who says he know the Lord, but does not, is an idolator, making a for himself God as he will.
Many will fill their hearts with the things of man in a futile attempt for fulfillment.

I don't think there's any problem with knowing God. It's who's version of God and the intricacies of the various dogmas that are what turn me off to organized religious authority.
God is fine. It's the interpretation that I can do without.

What enemy is that? Why do you need to have an "enemy"? Why does everything have to be reduced to "us" against "them"? I am at peace and happy and content without any reference to a lord...if you can't understand that, that's your problem.

Anyone who is at peace is no longer searching. Since the whole purpose of life, if it has any at all, is the journey, not the destination, anyone at peace is wasting their lives on a falsehood.

Or, it could be that they are sincerely trying to help those who mire themselves in religion to escape the numbing fear they feel when confronted with oblivion.
It's hard not to feel revulsion at the thought of not existing anymore. All animals want to survive. People want to survive even death. Some people NEED religion to deal with that.

What if we're completely at peace AND we're not Christian? Stop implying that everyone who doesn't agree with you is somehow unsure or confused. They're just as certain as you are.
