Did you get a 2nd opinion about having your tonsils removed? I thought that if an adult got tonsilitis that much, the benefits of having them removed out-weighted the drawbacks.

It would help to know which antibiotic you tried, in what dose, and for how long. If there is an abscess at the back of your throat antibiotics will not resolve the infection unless the abscess is drained and perhaps this is what is meant by 'pop' it. Indeed if an abscess is not drained it may lead to a medical and surgical emergency. If your tonsils are removed you do not become ill more often and in the vast majority of cases the tonsils do not need to be removed. In fact recurrent infection is NOT a reason to have your tonsils out as decades of medical study clearly demonstrate that you will have the same number of infections - but we call them pharyngitis rather than tonsilitis. Dr. Stankard wanted to remove my tonsils in the 1950s but my dear Mother who dislikes physicians refused and I am alive and well at 55. This story may seem cute to me but it will ease your misery. If you let me know which antibiotic was used and at what dose for how long I will let you know whether or not that should have worked although again if you have an abscess there may no choice but to have it drained insurance or not. Although I am a physician I am not able to afford health insurance so you have my empathy in that regard.

To relieve some of the pain you can try eating sugar free Popsicles. They will numb you a bit and be soothing. Stay away from sugar it helps the bacteria grow. If you are able to take ibuprofen that will also help with the inflammation.
To get over anything you have to boost your immense. I take Noni juice and I make my own juices from organic fruits and vegetables. You can find all types of juice recipes on line to help you. Vitamin C is very important to helping you fight it off.
It would not hurt to get another opinion on whats going on inside you if your tonsillitis is that resistant to antibiotics.
Good luck, hope you feel better soon.

try with flax-seed tea. Boil some water, when the water is boiling, turn of the stove and through maybe 8 -12 flax-seeds, cover it and let it stand for 5 minutes, then gargle with part of the tea and the and dink the other part.

The gargles should take care of the swelling and the tea should ease your throat. hope you feel better!!!!
