Psychologically speaking, if we make a person less than human, it is easier to hate them and ignore their pain.
The real issue is that there is no true mechanism in place to deal with illegal immigrants

I have not seen too much name calling. Illegal doesn't mean Mexican , Asian or anything other than illegal. Illegal in reference to the immigration issue means anyone of any race, creed, or color who enters the US in any means not allowed by our law. This is not racist but rather a matter of legality.

Why do Hispanics have to use racist words against white people? Since I started on this forum, I've seen more racial slurs against whites than I have against illegal immigrants .... but be that as it may ...as for not calling our government names ... lolol .. you can be sure we do ... at least I do ... and not pretty names either ... :)

The racism is not just from one side of the issue.I read lots of insults to both sides, from both sides. The pros will insult just as often as the antis will. Its certainly not all one sides fault. If there were no illegal aliens sneaking across our country's borders then there would be no reason to enforce our laws. Its a two edged sword,it cuts both ways.
Emotions and feelings cause this to become a very heated forum at times, and its difficult to not say something to hurt the other side. But I always re-read my answers before I post them. They still get deleted by someone that must hate me ,but I never insult anyone as far as race or country of origin is concerned.I must admit that blatant stupidity does get me going at times but I do try not to tell them how very ignorant their post is lol

When people get mad and upset, they speak differently than they would normally. Many people are upset about the way that illegal immigration has been ignored, and the way the whole business of the border has been mishandled for years.
There's a lot of good information about illegal immigration on the web, start with the official websites from the government etc.

I don't believe in using racial slurs or offensive language in order to prove a point.

I agree with you, the problem with people today is that they lack respect towards people and they think that by insulting people they will get somewhere. Our Government is to blame but you don't see anyone pointing the finger at at them instead they choose to be mean and say hurtful things about people they know nothing about.

I have always refrained from dropping to that level...
I would like to mention, that in your question, It appears to me you have been influenced by the pro-illegal crowd.
The founder of La Raza
" Jose Angel Gutierrez " said :
"We have got to eliminate the gringo, and what I mean by that is,
if the worst comes to the worst, we have got to kill him."
It is easy to get angry and call names, when the opposition leaders are saying they want to kill you.

People just tend to think about themselves. Life teaches oneself that it is life is all about yourself and another person's gain is of no value to you. After all this, you tend to care less about others.
Another reason might be ethnocenterism, it causes people to think themselves as better off than others. For example, Americans think that an America is "white, speaks fluent english, christian, etc", and that Americans are better off than the rest of the world. This causes them to think that everyone else not as smart and efficient to do it themselves. So it is still like the "white man's burden" effect, which makes them think that they have to deal with all the foreigners as they are not as stablized as the Americas. It is the same with any other case, one tends to think one's belief, position in society, etc to be better than others which causes them to degrade and make fun of people who are not that successful or different. It is the same if you put a British student in America or take an American and put him in Britian. As they are different, they are made fun of.

I agree. We'd make so much more progress if we treated all people with basic respect, even if we weren't fond of their ethnicity and their background. We should be practising real tolerance of people who come from completely different lifestyles. But blaming them for our own problems is not the answer.

the funny thing about racial slurs/sterotypes, in my opinion, are that they are acurate most of times. stop being so PC and saddened by it.
Our Gov.!!! we put those people in power...don't blame racial slurs on our gov. that is dumb!
If you dont like racial slurs then you should not use them, maybe if everyone would just mind thier own P's and Q's we would all be better off.
