First of all you should use tissue when you do these sort of things. greenish-yellow means you are close to death. You might live if you go to the emergency room and get an i.v in your vein right away. You might have to do an anal probe too. Also ask for a colonostopy.

If you have a runny nose....
Clear discharge: Allergies
Other than clear discharge: Bacterial/viral infection
Remember that boogers come in different shades also. It's probably just the amount of bacteria that's in the mucus at that time.

The color of mucous is not related to whether or not there is an infection present. The color is influenced by the 'age' of the cells present in the discharge. As cells age and die leaving their remains to be clear by the lymphatic system mucous turns from clear, to yellow, to green, to black. Yellow-green mucous means that it was present for days prior to being 'blown' out.
