My former Stepfather health has began to decline and now needs daily assistance in meeting personal needs. His doctors have stated that he should not return to his own home to live alone. My youngest half-brother is unwilling to listen to his fathers nor the doctors requests to move him into assisted living. Our former Stepfather has ask us to become involved with his care, which we do not have a problem doing so....within our group he has 3 stepchildren...1 older son from his first marriage who lives out of state and 1 younger son (my youngest half brother). Now for the dilemma...Our former stepfather was extreamly abusive, to our mother and to each of us. Over the years we (stepchildren) have each dealt with his abusiveness and have forgiven him. Youngest half brother has not...and is verbally abusive to his father...bullying him whenever possible. We were all taught to respect our elders.
We are now faced with having to protect our former elderly stepfather from his own son. Help!

If he's being abusive, don't put up with it. give responsibility to the actual family members, it's not completely your perogative. however, if you are like me and feel so inclined to be nice (it's a problem, isn't it?), i'd recommend that you step in, and tell baby brother to loosen up and be nice to his sick father. if he doesn't, then there's nothing you can do but be exceptionally nice to the poor man.

It sounds like the step father has requested to be moved into an assisted living facility. If he has, then put him in one and let the people who work there know about the half-brother and his temper. To some degree this is between father and son ( ya reap what you sew ) but the staff there should protect him i would think. blessings.

Well you should take care of him because he is family. But if he starts abusing you and your family, then you should confront him about it. You should also get the youngest step brother to stop bullying your elderly step-dad.
