I am not saying there is anything wrong with you. You could be the coolest, prettiest 16 year old girl in high school, but I would still ask myself what is wrong with this 23 year old guy who wants to date a 16 year old?? He's old enough to have graduated from college and been working in the corporate world for at least a year by now. And you're 2 years away from graduating high school and just learning how to drive. Why does this guy not want to date someone who is at the same point in their lives as him? Can he not find someone his own age? Just to be on the safe side, you might want to ask yourself what his motives are. If you were 23 and he was 30...that would be better. At least you'd have more in common in terms of life stages.

Well, it is against the law in most states (maybe all), however I think the idea that someone a day over 18 can't date someone a day under 18 is a little silly. I know 15 and 16 year olds that act more maturely than some of the 30 year olds I know. I am 22 and my partner is 30. We have a child together, and are blissfully happy. I think that if I would have met him at age 16, I would have realized then that he was the one for me. Instead, I wasted years of dating all sorts of morons both my age and slightly older. My answer, in short, is that you should follow your heart and not some bureaucratic government system that is trying to manipulate our lives in any way it possibly can. Best to you.

Lilmaino,
Congratulations on finding love! Age shouldn't be a factor when being with the person you love. The only thing you should consider is maturity level and expectations of the relationship. At 23 a man is possibly ready for a serious relationship, most likely not a virgin, and probably expects to be physical as part of a healthy relationship. At 16 a girl is supposed to be meeting new people, having fun, and experiencing new things while finding out who she will be as a woman. If you feel like you can have a relationship with him and be on the same page..without any pressure...all the power to you! Go for it girl! But don't worry there are plenty of guys out there, set your heart on learning about who you are, not trying to find Mr. Right. Take care.

yes, there is something wrong with this. He is 23 and an adult, you are just able to drive a car! Any person dating a 16 year old when they are 23 has some problems relating to maturity.

Ok 16 and 23 huh?? Well lets just say i've been in this jam before and it gets scary cuz your worried about what people will think right?? Listen age is something that the heart wants to do nothing with. If you love this guy then go for it, but be carful older guys arn't always in love but after something eles.

when I was 16 I dated one of my moms friends up until I was 18 and he was way over 23. I think it's fine. Once you are out of highschool no one seems to care about the age difference so I say go for it.

It depends on where you live as far as legality goes. In the state of Colorado, when you turn 16 you can date anyone up to 10 years older than you. Otherwise, I'm 19 and my man is 28, so as long as you're mature enough to handle it, it shouldn't be a problem.

yes, i do think there is something wrong with that only because at a young age things are really different in your life compared to a 23 year old man. i do believe that age is just a number but it applies when both parties are adults. sorry girl.

Yes, a 23 year-old shouldn't be interested in at 16 year-old. At this age, the maturity gap is too large, when it gets older, you get more mature and it wouldn't be that bad.

Yes. Thats called illegal and taking advantage of a teenager. I was 16 when I met my ex husband and he was 21. The only guy interested in his 20's with a teenager is one that wont ever have the maturity to be a real man. You change alot in your 20's and your grow. So its a bad idea all the way around.
