You can use any recipe you like. If you have a favorite, but don't like the nuts, delete the nuts. If it doesn't look like it is coming together into the balls you want, add a little more of a dry ingrediant. remember, sugar is considered a wet ingrediant,( because when you add heat to sugar it liquifies. ) either that, or add a little of the run at a time, and when the dough comes together stop adding the rum. Good luck.

I have never tried this myself, but found it online for you. It says you can skip the walnuts. Hopefully it works well! Goodluck!
"This is an excellent dessert to bring for the Holidays. You can use either Brandy or Rum. These do need some time to set up so it is best to make them the night before. If you don't care for walnuts, the balls can be rolled in confectioners' sugar or cocoa powder."

I used to have the same problem my daughter is allergic to walnuts and I don't care for peanuts. Then one day while I was baking something that asked for nuts I just omitted them and the recipe worked. So now I just don't add them most recipes work if you think you need to add something in place of the nuts add more wafers or add less rum. I hope I have helped.

All mine have nuts just leave them out.
Ive made them with vanilla wafer crushed up and melted chocolate some sugar add rum mix well and roll into balls ...no nuts !
if the nuts actually go into the "dough" eliminate the nuts and add extra "nilla" wafers.
most are just recipes that tell you to roll them in the nuts ...you can try rolling them in cocoa powder or powdered sugar.

30 min 30 min prep
Change to: rum balls US Metric
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 cup confectioners' sugar (150g)
3 cups vanilla wafers, crushed (Crush vanilla biscuits and use if you don't get vanilla wafers, 300g)
4 tablespoons dark corn syrup or golden syrup
1/2 cup dark rum (more or less, depending on personal tastes)
extra cocoa or ground chocolate, to roll the rum balls in
In a large bowl, sift together the cocoa and confectioners' sugar.
In a food processor or blender crush/crumble the vanilla wafers.
Add the crushed vanilla wafers to the sugar mixture and combine.
Add the remaining ingredients.
Form the mixture into 1 inch (2. 5 cm) balls with your hands.
The balls should hold together easily and retain their shape.
If the mixture is too dry to hold together or too wet to form balls, you can easily adjust the consistency by adding rum/sugar accordingly.
Sprinkle the extra cocoa or ground chocolate on a flat surface and roll the balls in to coat.
Have'em on your cookie tray this year and watch'em vanish before you know it!
This makes 30 rum balls. They are delicious. You can actually use anything to roll them in when finished.
