My throat (right under the tonsils) hurts; not when i swallow, but just hurts. i've drank water and done so much more and my voice will start to feel clear and fine, but then when i start to talk my voice starts to get to hurting again. I even stayed home from h/s yesterday and i also stayed home today and i haven't talked at all throughout the day (vocal rest) except i said a few things to my mother. i have had a little bit of sneezing, but that's it; no coughing, fever, or congestion. i really don't know what this could be. i didn't scream or yell prior to this si i truly don't know what it could be.

Additional Details

also about a week before getting this i had a lump on my neck-like something was swollen, but that has since when away. i don't know if that could have had anything to do with it so i thought i'd just add it.

thanks to all those who choose to answer.

Sounds like you have an infection. And that previously your lymph node was swollen, this often happens with infections. You need to see a doctor that is the only way to find out what it is. No one here can evaluate you properly through the interenet.

You probably have an infection in your throat. That lump sounds like a swollen lymph node. I'd see a doctor about antibiotics.

i dont really know the answer to your question, there are several illnesses that could cause this. the swolling could have been a lymphnode and that just happens and goes away with infections, so you may be getting an infection. if it doesnt go away in a day or two call your doctor. good luck and merry christmas.

My husband and I have been have the same kinda probs just because of the time of year. The air is so dry that it drys out your throat, esspecailly over night. Try drinking hot drinks and or sucking hard candies. Also, invest in a humidifier.

could be your sinises draining...or the start of an infection..call your doctor to be on the safe side..tonsils are lymph nodes , you probably had a swollen lymph node in your neck..which could be a sign your body is fighting an infection
