I don't think crafts teach a child much but art does. The difference is that with a craft you have specific instructions on exactly what to make and know what it will look like in the end. With art you can create your own and not everyone's looks the same- that is a lot better. We try to stay away from crafts with my daughter but I love to give her art supplies and let her be creative.

I think it teaches a child how to be creative. It enhances their moter-skills and builds up their self-esteem when they see what they're able to create. They have a chance to stimulate their imagination. I'm a pretty successful artist myself and allot of it came from 'craft' in grade school. Craft can start you off in allot of directions. Architecture, designing, building just about anything.

It teaches a child to use their mind and resources around them and come up with somethind they can be proud of. It teaches them that if they put their mind to something they can accomplish alot

depends on what craft you are doing. It def is creative. They get to do what they want and how they want to. They are using their brain and figuring out how to do it.

It teaches them to think, it allows them to be creative, it shows them ways of doing things differently. It actually allows them to be different from their peers. Being creative is very important. It enriches their minds, it's art so it's very enriching.

How to use their imagination, motor skills (ie, cutting with scissors) plus it's just fun, they love it, at least mine do (as much as I hate cleaning up after)
