I was trying to decide what to give my roommate for his wedding present. She has already graduated and is a teacher and he is graduating in August. After seeing this system called iMemoryBook I came up with a great idea. I convinced Derek and Wendy to write "He said...She said" stories about the way they met and the way they got engaged. Then using iMemoryBook's invitation system I sent invitations to all of his family and friends, in Utah, and all of her family and friends, in California. Then I watched the wedding memory book grow online. I was amazed at how smoothly this book grew with the iMemoryBook system. Over 70 people got online, viewed and contributed to the book. The final book had over 200 photos, 75 entries(memories), and 100+ pages, iMemoryBook helped me create something I wouldn't have even imagined possible.
It worked perfect.

Well, if they're working professionals, they probably are one of those couples who have registered somewhere. Why don't you find out where they registered and pick a gift from their list? If you don't dig the idea of just picking an item off their registry list (a lot of people find that impersonal), you can at least know what store they like and get them a unique, thoughtful, useful gift. I really think you should stick to their registry, though. They wouldn't have registered for that stuff if they didn't want it!

not underwear but maybe if you have any treasured items you and te couple knew about i college
Something you all used to do or play with in college
if you have a picture of all you or a picture you could give them that with a personal gift from you like some cooking supplies since they are going to be living together

I have always been told that a bride and groom can't get enough towels - bath and kitchen - as wedding gifts. It's the one thing they really need and probably can't afford to buy enough of for themselves when first starting out. Make sure the towels match the room for which they are intended, and the newlyweds will be your friends for life.

Edible underwear - it will spice up their non-existent love live (two working professionals will rarely have time alone) and they won't have to cook.

Gift certificates to really nice stores so they can buy accessories for their house/apartment. Or maybe a massage for both of them to enjoy together.

Honestly, cash. After your wedding you don't want to worry about getting gifts home and they can use it for whatever they want, maybe a special something on their honeymoon, maybe a mortgage payment... they can decide!
