when they KNOW they will end up embarrasing themselves??? Our office party was last night and one of our best producers called one of our refined older ladies an obscene name because she was tipsy. What's your experience? Any interesting stories??

I chose not to drink last night because I was driving AND I was worried about what the owner's and bosses would think of me if I said or did something stupid!!

Our top producer was the one who called our sweet, elderly salesperson a VERY disrespectful name!

Love to drink, but I had to learn that I need to limit myself from going off on some of the idiots I work with. What sounds like a great idea drunk, usually isn't the next day.

Who was tipsy: The refined old lady? Or the best producer? I've made an **** out of myself at office parties. After one, I've woke up on the floor of kitchen at the house of a woman whose hand got a bit friendly with Mr. Knob the night before. At the time, I didn't know whose house I was at until I saw her husband walk into the kitchen. From what I am told, nothing happened other than the hand-job, which only the woman, myself and a friend of mine who 'rescued' me from her know about.

I would HAVE to drink at my staff party in order to tolerate some of the people I work with who I don't even like to be around when I'm paid, let alone hang out with them on my own time! Thank God it's once a year, and even then, I decline. It's best to avoid a potentially explosive situation whenever possible. Just get together with the co-workers you like to be around, and the rest can be excluded. That's the only way to enjoy yourself in workplace get-togethers.

It's only once a year, and if you're worried about what your boss thinks of you then have one or two to be social but don't get wasted. It's possible to drink without making a fool of yourself. Loosen up a little!

My guess is that it's free alcohol and people feel the need to loosen up a bit since it's the people they are most stressed around. Also, it gives your co-workers a little glimps into your personal life. I know that in a party setting with a little bit of alcohol when I am relaxed, I'm more at ease with getting to know my co-workers and I've developed friendships.
We drink at ours. I don't ever get too silly though, although my boyfriend seems to get goofy at both mine and his causing embarrassment to me, although when we are at his, his boss is encouraging it.

alcohol loosens the tongue, impares better judgement, and makes block heads act worse, than it they were sobber.
it also for some helps a person to calm down and have fun

people tend to get a little nervous at those, so they probably drink to relax a little
