I had the same type of thing happen and the first bit of advice would be to see a doctor if it's been a couple of weeks. They can possible give you some anti-inflamitories to help with the pain. Second, go get a deep tissue massage (around $40-$50 bucks) and tell them about your pinched nerve so they can concentrate around it. Third, go to the gym or someplace that you can sit in a hot tub to try and loosen the muscles that have the nerve pinched. Lastly, relax and take it easy. This was the hardest part for me. I know it sucks, but hang in there. Good luck.

You probably have disc compression. If it's been 2 weeks you could do a couple of things.
1. Go to a chiropractor and ask for TENS. (S)he'll put little EKG-like electrodes on your spine and it stimulates the nerves and surrounding tissues in your neck and back. This will help relax the muscle and maybe let go of the pinch, giving you relief.
2. Go see your regular doctor and ask for Skelaxin or Flexarill. This is a muscle relaxer to take ONLY AT BEDTIME. Take 800mg of Motrin along with it, as well as every 6-8 hours during the day. The Flexarill or Skelaxin will help you sleep, relax your muscles and help let go of the pinch. You will probably wake up groggy, though.

The muscles in your neck will tense up to protect the joint if the joint is out of whack. Most likely warm, moist heat will help you relax your muscles and some Tylenol will help with the pain. A chiropractor probably can help you get your neck vertebrae working again, but I would talk with a MD, too. You probably have some sort of muscle imbalance that causes this and you'll want to work with a physical therapist to strengthen whatever muscles are necessary to keep it from happening again in the future.

You apparently have some discrepancy in the equality of your cervical spine musculature. When you over stretch the less dense muscle of one side, it will go into spasm and bring the vertebrae out of their normal position. The result is irritation of the nerve root. In this case it is sufficient to involve the brachial nerves.
If this condition has not subsided in a couple days, it is in need of professional help. In this instance, the ideal treatment would be to see your local doctor of Chiropractic. When that nerve pressure is reduced, the edematous tissue will subside dramatically.
