MY understanding is that the Islam faith holds Jesus in high esteem, as a prophet, a messenger of God, and the Quran also rerfers to the Gospel as holy scripture. My question is regarding the conflict there, since Jesus clearly spoke of himself as the Son of God, and claimed to be the Son of God.....why would Muslims hold Jesus in high regard as a prophet, if they believe he was lying about being the Son of God? And then the Gospel would seem to be full of lies as well, as they again and again declare Jesus as the Son of God, and the only way of salvation. The Gospels also clearly define a holy trinity, declaring that Jesus is the Word made flesh. So why would Muslims hold Jesus in high regard...if you believe He was lying about being the Son of God, wouldn't you call him a liar instead, and wouldn't you call the Gospels a lie as well? I'd really appreciate an explanation to this 'seemingly' contradictory part of the Muslim faith. Thank you
