I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sins and have had faith in God for many years but having gone through some really rough times in the last five yrs. or so I feel like I'm sort of prayed out. Sort of like my prayers are dry bits of meaningless chatter.

Hi, I just wanted to encourage you. Sometimes we walk through valleys, dry and barren places just like Jesus did when we don't see the fruit of our prayers but this is where God takes us to prove us, to refine us like fire for His glory. Jesus said, blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe. When we seek His very face, His presence, and lift up His attributes beyond the natural blessings with a Spirit of thankfullness we will be content knowing it's not about how we feel, but faith in His unchanging word and His promises. Its the effectual, fervent prayers of the righteous that avail much, we have to keep pressing even when we don't see it. He says to cast your cares upon Him for He cares for you. You are His child, He will hear your cries and hearken to you, if you are seeking to glorify Him. Hope that helps, God bless, josh

Examine yourself, your heart, and examine what is the motive behind you praying. Are you praying for self benefit(selfish reasons)? are you praying just to go through the motion? Why do you pray? God looks at a person's heart when we pray. Pray from the heart, pray for others. What about your walk with Him? Is there something in your life that He has been dealing with your heart about? Something he told you to do/or not do, but you disobeyed Him? When you come before the Lord repent for Things you have done, said or thought of that has been displeasing to Him. Just as David did, ask God to create in you a clean heart and renew a steadfast spirit within you. Remember, having Faith is not a feeling (or any kind of emotion). It's believing what you don't see. It's believing the very thing that you hope for but the evidence of it coming to pass is not seen.

I know exactly what you mean. Try starting off with some praise and thanksgiving - "Enter His courts with praise and come into His courts with thansgiving." I've also found that using the Lord's prayer as a model to follow is helpful. Be sure you are making contact by praying in the Name and through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. "No man comes to the Father except by me (Jesus)". If you still have no breakthrough, try just being quiet and listening. Be honest and ask Him to tell you what may be wrong.

Sometimes prayer takes time, but it is never unheard. You just have to have more confidence that He is listening and is working things out. Trust me, you will look back and say, WOH I'm so sorry I worried so much about, you had things taken care of all along. Keep praying, and even tell God how you are feeling, remember he is you friend, he wants you to be happy.

from time to time i might knock a pitcher onto a concrete floor, it bounces yet would not destroy, this is like a miracle. yet yet again i might drop a small section from some thing i'm engaged on, it bounces & probably disappears, nowhere for it to bypass, like an anti-miracle. I do think of it particularly is accident, finding back issues can take on the phantasm of a few preordained order. If God is genuine than i'm blessed. I thank God out of habit, i admire the belief of being attentive to how fortunate i'm, i actual have self belief he's only in my head however. I actual have self belief that many times the glass will leap & no longer destroy for me, i do no longer understand why, i think of this is only the way i p.c. to look at issues. some say I actual have a screw lose, i think of that fell out & bounced, in no thank you to be seen back.

been there done that... do'n it..... here is a link to some short writing I did on the general subject is you are interested... http://pages.zdnet.com/mikevanauken/outreach/id91.html

dont make it a big production... just talk to God... just, "hey God, I got a problem....don't know what to do about it so though I'd ask you... I know...I should have asked you in the first place...forgive me please...but it just has me really mixed up right now........"

sort of like that.....there is a time for formal and there is a time just for a cry for help.... do it what ever way is needed to get the thought out....

It is a part of life,

We all get that way at times.

Advent is a good season to revive your prayer life, get a different prayer guide, attend a different service.

Add a little spice!

Good Luck and God Bless!

Sometimes you get on fire when you do that is God patting you on the back.
In times of dry spells that's him testing you to pray out of love for him.
The greatest saints ever lived had dry spells. Persevere
