" The greatsest single cause of atheism in the world today, is christians who aknowledge Jesus with their lips, and walk out the door and go on about their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbeleivable."
This a quote I came across from a christian group from the 90's.

To:the chaos within> Of course anyone critically reading and thinking about what is written will reject it immedeatly, thats what a critic does, they look only for the negative never the positive, other wise theyd be optimists not critics.

75-85% of Americans call themselves Christian. 60% consider themselves Holy.
American's embrace of evolution theory is slowly being released. The rally cry of those who find evolution a probable theory is rising. 55% of recognized scientists consider themselves Christian.
Scientific claims have been accepted, expounded upon, brought into argument.... and have been proven false, later. 1-50 years later. Not all claims, of course.
Science is a great study. It has provided great advances. But, it also has a reputation in directing study and it's results towards Christians. It is confusing, but expected.
We are told that we will be hated. We will be denied and cursed. We will be killed. In the end, science will triumph, temporarily. Men will celebrate, and say, look at what we have made. science is there. Then we are told things will go wrong for them.
We will be revealed in the end. But many of us will die before then. We will be as lepers. Shunned and despised for our self infection. Oh well. It is all a big mess to me.

To a certain extent, I agree with that. I persons beliefs in Christ comes from other many other factors though, such as their upbringing on religion, what they were exposed to, certain unfortunate events/bad situations that arise in their life that effects their faith and belief. There's hypocritical people everywhere you go and in all situations, so why should Christians stand out as the greatest to causing atheism upon a person, If anything society and yourself as an individual, are the greatest cause of atheist. You yourself have to come to agreements on religion, you can chose to believe or not to believe, that's your own personal decision that you have to make up/change yourself.

The first thing I have to say is thank you so much for using the word non-Christians instead of non-believers. Your respect is very much appreciated and seldom seen.
As to your quote, I think that in some ways it's right. In other ways, it's wrong.
I think the main reason of the cause for Atheism is that the world has become far too advanced for religion to keep up. Where things used to seem miraculous to us before, now we have explanations on why things are the way they are. Real factual explanations.
It's very hard to believe in religion, which is not factual and by it's very nature needs you to deny fact, in a world when reality can be broken down to it's smallest parts and reassembled in ways never before even thought of or considered.
Science is overriding religion. And for good reason.

I disagree.
Christians are not EVER going to be perfect, we are all human!
Anyone who does any research about People and Religion knows that we can not expect humans to be without faults.
Non-Christians are always talking about how judgmental Christians are, (some are we are NOT supposed to be), how hypocritical is it of them to judge us? How do they know what is in our hearts?
Atheism is on the rise because we are spoiled and tricked into believeing that we are prospering all by oursleves, and we don't want to have to follow any rules. Just like a child that is spoiled.
Good Luck and God Bless!

I do not subscibe to the current view of the 'Christian Lifestyle."
A Christian is a Christian not because he or she seems perfect, but that they trust God through His promises. Being 'clean' is what the Pharisees wanted others to believee they were. And Jesus wasn't impressed.
If a preacher preaches a "clean Christian lifestyle," and that he is bound by the Law in that way, he is supposed to do the whole law. Yet Paul was very clear about that, and those that live in faith of God through Jesus Christ are fulfilling the Law because they are connected to Christ in faith. It is not because of 'goodness' , though that might come out, but it is because they are NOT doubting God.
If you get to a point that you think that you are really 'living a clean Christian Lifestyle," you are sinning! God sees through that false front, and knows what perfection looks like. Just wait! The fall is not far from happening. ( ;

I agree. And further...
The idea that you can commit the most unthinkable, heinous acts and be forgiven by asking Jesus to be your savior, also smacks of mind boggling hypocrisy. It is the open door, the wellspring for organizations like the Mafia. It reminds me of the climactic scene at the end of "The Godfather" where Michael is being made godfather of this innocent baby while the mastermind behind the murdering of so many people. All within the alleged house of god. All happening while saying he renounces Satan.
For me, this is a mirror reflecting the true face of Christianity. It is also a mirror for all religions that say one thing and do another.

Atheism is a religion for the nonbeliever. They have a right to their point of view, but as I have pointed out before, there is no logical reason for them to hang out around Yahoo's religion and spirituality section.. Let's say the occasional question popped up. No problem. I am tired of every fourth question being about atheism and why we should be atheists. I don't appreciate that. I don't want people coming to my door and I don't want atheists running me down on the Internet.

That quote talks about atheism as if it's some kind of disease. Which- to religious organizations, I guess it is. But to rational thought, tolerance of others, and a chance at world peace- Atheism is a good first step.
It's right about the part where it says the 'unbelieving world simply finds [Jesus/God] unbelievable'. It really is unbelieveable.

Good old D.C.talk...gotta love them. Of course it's true. Jesus says that they will know you are my disciples by your love. He said that because- as 1st John tells us- God is love and if we are saying that then we need to show that love otherwise it's a lie. If I told you that a stove was hot but yet kept touching the burners without flinching- you wouldn't believe me. Same with us- if we say sin leads to hell but keep sinning-who in their right mind would believe us?
