while on a road trip I zeroed out my trip counter to track my milage, after pressing the button both milage counters stopped working. any ideas?

Try disconnecting the negative battery terminal and leaving it off for a couple of minutes. This should make the computer reboot and reset everything.

Try pushing it a few more times, or pressing it in and letting it slam back out hard. The button may be sticking internally.

yes you are driving an older pony right? well it is worn some. so take the speedo out and try to spray some silicone into the inside to lube the gears. or replace it if you want.. the lube idea is 50/50 to work.
