It was the catcher but he didn't have the ball because the batter hit a home run. The umpire was behind him.

If he only made 3 left turns, he would not be at his own place of abode; he would intend to make one extra effective left turn to get homestead !!! psthe baseball answer is misguided - the guy left his homestead, no longer homestead base, and there on the on the spot are no longer any "left turns" at the same time as working the bases....actual an unanswerable riddle
