To achieve those tousled curls "the rock and roll red carpet hair" all the mag's are talking about. Mousse and hairspray is making the curls frizzy when I use the curling iron.

you should use John Frieda Ocean Wave Sea Spray. lightly spray that all over your hair. you can either twist your hair and pin in against your scalp or braid it and leave it for 30 mins then undo it and voila! you should have the tousled, rocker look. very sexy!

The first key, is good salon products. Most, over the counter, shampoos contain a type of wax product, (with tons of different names) added to give the hair a squeeky clean feel and appearance. Even some of the salon products can react with the minerals and addatives in your water. There may be other more pure products out there than I'm aware of, but when I left the profession, the one I relied on was Avida. I always started a client, that was having a hair control problem, with a very deep cleaning, to strip all other products from the hair. Then a good hair cut. This gives a clean canvas to start with. Most often than not, no extra products are needed. When the hair is coated with the wax from the old shampoos and products, the heat from any type of iron takes longer to penatrate to the cortex ( center) layer where the moleculs are rearranged by the heat to create your style. If you leave that heat on the hair to long it can lead to fizzy ends and more.
For curly hair, I use a much larger curling iron (depending on the length) than I'd use for more straight hair. Conclusion, start with a clean canvas.

Hot rollers are excellent, especially the "Caruso" steam rollers. Hairspray and mousse both contain alcohol, which can produce frizz. Use an alcohol free curling spray before each curl if you're going to use an iron or a hot roller. I like TiGi Bed Head's culing spray. A static-free brush can help, as well!

spray ur hair lightly with a good kind of hair spray first like garner fructis ...and then curl ur hair with a curling iron then finish off by spraying some more hair spray to hold the curls
by the way spraying hairspray before curling makes it easier to curl! and it wont get frizzy..it will look nice and soft

I always use silk drops before anything else. Then I'll apply my mouse and if i need it at the end just a little bit of hair spray. I really love silk drops, they are great no matter what style I'm going for. Be careful! A little bit goes a long way, and too much will make your hair look oily

TRY USING A LEAVE IN CONDITIONER AND LIGHT GEL, NOT TO MUCH OR WILL LEAVE YOUR HAIR OILY, DO NOT BRUSH YOUR HAIR BUT USE A WIDE TOOTH PICK OR FINGER COMB AFTER CURLING THEN APPLY A HAIRSPRAY.

Gel...and lots of it. If your hair is naturally curly, air dry.
