what I feel to all of it is the bible has some very good things to read in it but a lot of ppl pick it a part but if all ppl put it all together it is God telling people of his love.
When they put Jesus on the cross Jesus could of denied him self as being son of God in Gods "image" of man too" Jesus as the man would of lived a ripe old age but Jesus decided to go on this cross to show the world he wanted to show that he for give all who had put him there. if people of today thought and wondered why they do the things they do would only open up to for give others in the world especially there families and in-laws neighbors & there children there would not be so much ignorants to show other people if they only knew how to"4Give like Christ did for all of us. I think this clears this discussion up....the world would not be so lost and then fighting ppls religions with war or politics what is going on today with the people that has chosen to worship God are being criticized for what they believe mostly a prophet that to them is like Jesus to us they recognize him but we do not recognize there prophet for God who is (mo hammed)
then it goes and on with other religions 2me God wants us to open all of our hearts to each other no one will be perfect but it wud not be so much wars in countries if other people who beleive the same would not tare some ones elses faith and use disbeleif against them.

I would like to think so. I would also like to think that the people were convicted by what happened at the cross that they would have been stirred in their hearts to ask God for forgiveness.

The language is very plain.
Father, forgive them for they do Not Know what they are doing !
We think we can know what we are doing but we really don"t know at all.
Perhaps we all try to do the best in the circumstances we are in.
After all are we not all made in the image and to the likeness of God Himself ?

The cross had been planned since Genesis. "He shall crush your head (ie Satan) but you shall bruise His heal."

Jesus absolved the perpetrators of this crime because His death on the cross was His freewill choice for our redemption. However, to be saved from the rest of their sins, they would need to repent and believe accordingly--which many did.

The impenitent who proudly and profoundly deny God's love have cut themselves off from the Kingdom of Heaven.

Not if they didn't want it. Jesus was showing his feelings towards them.If Jesus wasn't that forgiving, he wouldn't have wasted his time on that cross.

This petition to the Father was inclusive of all future humanity not just those jeering at the foot of the cross.

we collectively crucify him afresh when we sin.

I think so.

We are so lucky to have such a loving God as an example.

Who have we forgiven today?

Peace!
