the reason i'm asking is this because of a few other questions i've asked where it seems as though some people all but demand i should turn to god to solve my problems, otherwise my life will be miserable, i won't find love, and i 'm going to hell. i'm pretty sure that that's happened to other people as well..so if it has, go ahead and tell me about it, i'm interested to hear it. sorry but telling me i'm going to hell doesn't make me want to get back on the ship i jumped from lol.

Since leaving religion I got my masters degree, left a not so great relationship, met my wonderful husband, bought a new home, learned many new and wonderful things, had many wonderful life experiences, and in general have experienced a pretty good life so far. My life certainly did not take a downward swing when I left Christianity. Have there been challenges? Sure. Have there been some downs among the ups? Yes, every life has them and we learn from the hardship and appreciate the good things more because of them. Have I needed God to address them? For me common sense, hard work, family and friend support have been enough and more helpful to me than belief in a Deity was before. I have no problem with people believing what they wish. I do have a problem with being vilified for not sharing their beliefs and resent their attempts to impose those beliefs on those who don't share them. As for Hell I just don't believe in it so telling me I am going to Hell isin't very effective. If there were a Hell I admit I think a lot of the most spiteful religious people who delight in judging others are going there themselves.

It sounds like you are bothered by it. Otherwise why would you bother posting this question?

Based on what you wrote I'm guessing someone offended you. I'm sorry they did. What more can I say? I'm not trying to be rude or a smart alec, but what do you want now?

ADDED

Regardless of what you believe or don't believe, you are not worthless! Whoever told you that was wrong. As far as God is concerned, He loves you more than you will ever know and you are worth Jesus being tortured and dying for. And that's true no matter what you choose to believe. So not believing does not change your worth to Him. That is what the Bible says. In fact that's what it is all about. But unfortunately people get it wrong quite often. "Religious" people can be really bad about that and they often drive people away from God. In fact when Jesus was here, He often faught with those very same people, the religious leaders. There is much to be told about that. Personally I have been where you are and dealt with people's BS too, but God is not like that.

Of course, God will not force you to believe in Him either. You can believe whatever you want to. I just hope you don't believe whoever told you you were worthless.

BTW I could give you ALOT of scripture refrences to back up what I have said, but you said you don't believe, so I'm not going to waste my time or yours. If you are interested in the verses you can email me and I can send them to you.

In any case, best wishes.

People sometimes get emotional and speak abruptly from their mouths rathar than from the teachings of Christ.

No one can condemn you. Christ taught us to love our fellow man. We are NOT to judge - our "job" as Christians is to love.

I apologize for the demeaning and "knee-jerk" reaction by those who have previously answered on your forums. Everyone has different life experiences as well as variances in teachings under their Church. Please do not hold anyone up to being 'perfect' as none but Jesus was that. And look at what we did to the only perfect man who walked the earth?

My suggestion to you is given in love. Please just pick up the Bible, in private, and just open it up anywhere. Just anywhere. And open up your heart to whatever messages God will pass to you.

God does love you, and you need to see beyond the failings of mankind in their "promotion" of God. God really does not need any help from any self help book or manual written to "assist" the Bible. The Bible stands alone as God's Living Word. The Holy Spirit will reach your heart and show you the Truth. No assistance from anyone - just God's messenger the Holy Spirit will show you the way and will open your eyes.

Whatever you do, do not place any human being up on any pedestal and expect that person to extoll perfection. Only God and His Word is Perfect. Keep in mind that hell was NOT created for us; never meant for mankind. It was designed for satan and his followers for eternity to stay. We humans are meant to be with God in Heaven. Those who do seek hell will succeed, but they worked at it and did voluntarily turn their back on God. You are not doing that. You are seeking God, which is an entirely different perspective.

So, go seek God's love. Find it in His Word. Find comfort, find joy, find peace. God Bless you on your journey of a lifetime!

God tells us the he gives life and life more abundantly, He also says that he would rather that you chose life. If you don't, It's your Choice.
But I my self will say I know that it deeply sadden's the heart of the Father to hear that yet another one of his creation chose's death. There is a death far worse than physicaly dying ya know. It is living a life with out the Love of God ever being in our lives.
To me it would be far worse to continue living life knowing that I will never recieve any good thing from my God again. and only recieve destruction, unsettledness, and no hope of ever keeping anything I get. and die a lonely sad life, only to have to then enter into the Lake of fire.

Yep! No hope is far worse...
Sorry to hear your choice..

This is your life,,by looking towards me and seeing thier faults will only lead you to a life of pain..but this is what you choose so live it..It is a sad day when we can't do what we are suppose to do all because of pride and rebellion but if this is what you want then you have made your mind up so I say God Bless you on your journey and God have mercy on you..

The ship you just jumped from. Sounds like you left places, people or things behind for your own reasons. You're right. People shouldn't be pushing you in the direction that works for them and not you.

My life and my family occupy all my time. I'm not particularly worried about other people's problems, or how they live their lives.

I can only tell you what works for me. Do what works for you. Good luck.
