youve actually got two questions in one there fella so first one first

..a draw bar is the coupling device between a rigid vehicle and its trailer.Imagine a letter A and at its apex is actually an eye, this corresponds to a hitch on the towing vehicle through which locates a pin to secure the two together.its is independant so allows the vehicle to turn and the frame also compensates up and down

on a tractor trailer combination (HGV not farm) the towing pin on the trailer is also known as a king pin.As all trailers will fit onto any tractor unit there is nothing to stop you picking someones alses trailer up either with or without there consent if you get my drift. To allevaite this problem you shroud the king pin with a lock to prevent coupling until removed with your key.

hope this reads as easy as it is.

A drawbar is what is usually termed a towbar on a tractor or other agricultural vehicle, ie used to draw(tow) a trailer. Not exactly sure in what context a king pin lock could be used but in the front steering of older cars, up to around the mid fifties, the king pin was a swivel arm on which the front axle was fitted. On modern cars, there are no kingpins but they all still retain a K.P.I. short for Kingpin inclination angle. This is an imaginary line drawn from the centre of the top of the shock absorber through to the bottom ball joint. It enables a vehicle to have a return to centre feel to the steering after turning a corner, ie the feeling of a car wanting to straighten up by itself without the driver having to do this. Unless it is something to do with front steering assemblies. Sorry, couldnt be of more help.

A drawbar is on the back of a tractor where you hook up implements. its a heavy steel bar that hooks to the frame and has a hole in it to put a pin to hook stuff to. I think a kingpin lock is on a tractor-trailer and keeps it from coming unhook during transport.

I don't know if this will help, but one form of a draw bar is found on Hammond organs. They are used to shape tones. Each draw bar will increase or decrease the decibel level of a fundamental or harmonic tone. As a draw bar is pulled, it will increase the volume of that part of a tone in 3 decibel intervals.

Perhaps there is a method of locking these draw bars so that the tone they are shaping won't be altered.
