It may be true that AIDS effects more black people than white people. The reason for this is that in the middle ages, in Europe, the Bubonic Plague killed millions of people. Those that survived, underwent a gene mutation that makes it impossible for them to ever be inflicted with the HIV virus. 10% of all European descendants, living in the modern world, are now immune from AIDS. This being said, Europe 700 years ago was mostly inhabited by whites, so it is plausible that more black people are inflicted. Another reason why this may be true is that many black people are concentrated in, or around, Africa. Most African countries have very poor awareness and education about HIV/AIDS, so the disease runs rampant, killing millions; while the whites and Chinese peoples live in more developed countries, thus, AIDS being less of an issue. If people banded together to help these countries that are unaware of the risk of this epidemic, much of the AIDS mess could probably be cleaned up.

It is caused by a virus (more precisely, a retrovirus, meaning a RNA virus) that is called HIV. It is not true that it affect one race more than another.

What is true is that is more spread in africa than in any other place, mostly because people over there cannot afford medication, testing and education. However, the disease continues to spread in rich countries because people falsely believe that AIDS can be cured.

Studies have shown that about 1% people SEEM to be immunized, and such people are attentively followed by scientists. Some scientists believe immunity is more spread in european caucasian (white) people because the black plague, an infection which has something in common with AIDS, previously killed a lot of those people in Europe whose immune system could not resist. This does NOT mean that white people are less at risk! It is just an hypothesis, and "immune" people have been found in every race.

Aids is a group of symptoms that are caused by the HIV virus. ANYONE can get HIV, as there is yet no vaccine.
