walking home in a bad area of the city and 2 thugs choked you and punch you to rob you, would you try to be a HERO to defend yourself and take the risk of being STABBED or KILLED or would you submit and give them the money?

Ok....this is likely a flagrant troll, and really, must you insist on having a battle of wits against some who may well be unarmed? :))

But...taking your question at face value here for a moment, just because it amuses me.

I've had to walk home in "bad areas of the city" before. And yes, I will be the first to admit, accidents happen, but.....

You don't spend *any* of your life living in a large or even medium-sized city, like oh, St. Louis or Denver, without learning at least a *little bit* of situational awareness. You develop your peripheral vision and *use it*. You learn your neighborhood and learn 2-3 different routes home from any given place and you *use them*.

And basically, the idea is to *NOT* be in the "right place" at the wrong time *for YOU*. You "keep quiet, keep smiling, keep looking around and Keep Moving," which is what my sisters were told to do--and some of it rubbed off on me. Meaning, you *can't* be cornered by just *two* thugs unless you somehow *do not* see them coming, and frankly, *I myself* have avoided dozens of situations just like this simply by "seeing it coming" from half a block to a block away, and from *not being too good* to run, or to switch routes abruptly (which is where knowing your neighborhood comes in).

And the truth is, if you stand up straight, remain alert, and keep smiling, not only will you not seem like enough of a victim to *attract* the thugs, but even when they're around, they aren't as likely to be *provoked* by someone who is just innocently smiling versus, oh, scowling and/or acting all hyped-up and paranoid.

In plain English....only a noob or scrub from *totally* out of town, fresh off the bus, falls for this scenario with any degree of regularity. :) Sorry.

Having said that though....in order for two thugs to get to you physically to attack you. Don't they have to get within *your* arm's reach too? Seriously, choking, punching, stabbing, these are all fairly close range tactics.

Using pepper spray is not. :D Neither is showing you have a cell-phone and hitting that 9-1-1 Panic button. And if all else fails....you *could*, I suppose, just *walk into* the trap, getting to one thug first (if you have skills and train to fight, mind you), and either maiming him so badly it gives his buddy pause, or at least getting control of Thug One so that he's a Human Shield versus Thug Two.

My point? Two people *do NOT* make a swarm or a dogpile by any stretch of the words. It is possible to get your skills and physical condition (and yeah, you need both of those at least) up enough so that two would be attackers are manageable. Survivable.

And that is as specific as I care to get with a troll. Because I am currently a bit out of shape, and need any advantage of surprise I can get, mind you. ;)

I would give them the money, but they would probable want more so while they thought they were in control counting the money, I would do a step behind side kick to the knee, kinda hard to fight when you cannot walk. Then I would concentrate on the other thug, if he had me in a choke hold, I would come up with my heel sharp and swift, to the crouch. Delivering a head butt to the nose at the same time, then I would run for me life.
Defense is the only choice, unless you plan to die without putting up a fight.

For me it would depend on how big they are. If they about my size i probalbly loose my head and try and fight them. Now if i see a gun , its over i hand my wallet in no time . Bullets are faster than punches. Now a day crooks tend to kill people after they rob them, so if i felt like if they were gonna kill me ill do something. Ive actually been robbed by two guys at a car audio shop with guns. I didnt do anything!!! they had guns

I'd give them the money. I trained to deal with a one-on-one situation. If I knew there were no weapons, I would try to take one out as best I could and hope to get lucky with the other. I would either use a rear-naked choke, triangle choke, guillotine, or armbar.

As much as I would like to kick their butt, I have a family & a fiance.
It's not worth fighting, you have to weigh the odds and assess the situation.
1. Your outnumbered
2. I'm a female kickboxer, but these are TWO thugs
I'd submit the money, there is no price on anyones life and I wouldn't want to leave my family and fiance.

Life is just too precious.

if they already started punching me then i would take it they didnt have a weapon so id rip back into them.but if they showed me a blade then no i wouldnt.having two kids at home it would be selfish of me to risk my life and possibly leave them fatherless.if i had a weapon i still wouldnt take them on because knowing my luck one of them would get killed and id be imprisoned away from my kids for a long time.unless,of course they started attacking me with weapons first ,then id have to hurt one or both of them.but i would avoid stabbing someone if i could coz i wouldnt miss my kids growing up for no amount of money.

you have to understand that your going to get stabbed. if your worried that your going to get stabbed, just give them what they want and run for your life. but, with that worry out of your mind, you can focus more. i would end up having a nice soild elbow to the spine, try to get right between where the back and neck connects. get the opponent on his knees. so that i dont have to reach up so high, i can reach in a downward elbow to the spine.
i say muay thai to bring him down on his knees. then use elbow.

2 against one and they have a weapon? There aren't alot of people out there (who are truly honest) who are tough enough to fight their way out of that one. The wallet is replaceable. I'm not. Give 'em the wallet and only fight if it looks like they're going to kill you anyway.

If there was only two of them I'd defend myself. Knowledge and training in hand-to-hand combat go a lot farther than most weapons. Now, if they had guns...well, in that case I'd hand my wallet over.
