During the Vietnam war,5,000 men went toCanada to avoid the draft. What was the first thing Jimmy Carter did when he took office? He gave AMNINESTY to the draft dodgers. They came back & got the very same benifit from the goverment as I fought for, So now Sen. Reid is the head of the Senate & he wants to allow over 1,000,000 workers who came here illegaly to be given citizenship just because they do work we suposely will not do. So I guess in the eyes of liberals you can break laws but as long as you do hard work you are excused. Is this how we want this country to in force our immergtation laws ? should you be allowed to stay here as a illegal just because you work?

I can imagine how it must have felt to find that you fought for a war that others benefited from. I don't agree that the immigrants should be granted citizenship just because they are working. Who is to say that these are jobs that we wouldn't do...we aren't given the option to take them because the illegal workers are willing to work for dirt pay (and companies are taking unfair advantage of this.) Let's hope this is one bill that will never pass. Oh, and thanks for fighting that war (many of my relatives were also there and too many were never thanked.)

the question I would have to ask is do the citizens who are called to serve have the right to refuse if they feel that the conflict is either illegal or unjust? But what you re asking is a tough question. I would love to put a stop to the employers who exploit these workers. I live in citrus country in Florida and I know that none could afford oranges or orange juice if we picked the crops. The workers in the groves really are remarkable. They work very hard very long hours for not a lot of pay. Citizenship I don't know that's a process for all and should be followed for all. Personally. I would judge it on a case by case basis. The plus would be that all these folks would finally be able to be taxed and we sure do the the money.

Liberals don't even care if they are working. The number is closer to 30,000,000 illegals and the liberals want them to stay because they have a "One World" approach to everything. They do not want any borders, they don't want anyone questioned as to why or how they got here. The left would be happy if we became France West tomorrow. 80% of these illegals work under the table and pay no taxes. They put a drain on all of our systems, hospitals, judicial and social service just to name a few. That's why they want to raise taxes, so we can continue to be the destination of every poverty ridden foreigner within walking distance. Within 40 years this country will not exist as it does today, there will be huge slums and parts of our country will start to resemble a third world country. The damnedest part of the whole thing is the politicians, even conservative seem not to care. I guess it's another case of Nero fiddling while Rome burns.

It's neither a liberal nor a conservative issue. It's not even a bipartisan issue. It's best categorized as unclear. There are so many immigration issues that would enrage both liberals and conservatives. I dare not get into them, but let me say there a enough abuses out there to go around to every point of view and sicken.
Of course I agree with you, those jobs BELONG to Americans, not to illegal immigrants because they don't have to get the minimum wage!!! I think the "Dream Act" is one of the sickest double standards ever. Think about it: whose dream does it serve?

No they should not! As long as we have laws, these laws should be upheld! And the law states illegal immigrants should be deported! Or are we allowed to pick and choose what laws we want to follow?? If that's so, I'd like to break the law that states I have to pay tax ... hell, if illegal immigrants want to be better off by coming here breaking our laws, I wanna be better off by not paying my taxes ... why not??

Doesn't it also bother you that Bush is negociating a trade agreement with the still Communist Vietnam we fought! It bugs me, yet we snub Castro and Cuba.
Did we ever get a full MIA accounting? I think not!

Comparing those who went to Canada, and Jimmy Carter, to illegal immigrants, and Reid, is a stupid comparison. They have nothing to do with each other.

Not all liberals agree with Sen. Reid. I am so sick of people saying that all people do something because of the actions of a few.
