You're right, I guess "United Kingdom" is too long, and they're not used to saying "U.K.", "Britain".... so "England" is all that's left!
Anyway they're not too geographically savvy, most of them can't point to their own country in a world map... (or so says National Geographic) let alone "England"....

in the beginning, it particularly is accepted as 9/11 in the united kingdom, even however that's no longer the ordinary way of dating. Like very very nearly each Western usa there grow to be first ask your self, and then an incredible feeling of cohesion with the U. S. super superstar spangled banners have been revealed in some newspapers, and persons positioned them up of their domicile windows. yet as issues like Iraq began it grew to become much less of a love affair. the main important uk demonstration ever got here approximately in London which grow to be against the conflict, and so implicitly against the U. S.. there have been diverse motives given to the united kingdom public to justify the conflict, besides the fact that it grow to be in no way offered to the country that Saddam had something to do with 9/11. As issues stand now there is only a pair of concensus that the professional tale of 9/11 is organic nonsense, and not any form of excuse for the wars and rules that got here in its wake. i do no longer understand what the proportion, as an entire, is, yet further and extra everyone seems to be coming to comprehend that there grow to be some thing very suspicious approximately that day, and that it particularly is very probable that there have been interior factors in touch in the assaults.

I know that England is not the whole of the UK and I am American, and I'd like to think that most people know that.
Of course, I once knew a guy so dumb that he thought Athens was in Australia. He was an exchange student from Liverpool. Go figure.

Sounds like you Limeys are still miffed at losing the colonies. Oh, yeah, and Ireland. Oh, and that small sheep farm near Argentina.
Don't worry though. Being the modern day Holy Roman Empire is not what it once was. You should be thankful that your monarchy finally gave up their colonial aspirations.
We Yanks have much pain and learning left to do.

It's called "Ugly American." We are comfortable with our lack of knowledge about your country. Why do you think that all Americans are "Yanks?" Many Southerners would take offense to that the same as you take offense to the UK/England thing.

Mainly because in our history we broke from England and its called that in the history books, so, people just associate it with the name, instead of Great Briton.
We across the pond dont really care what you call yourselves, but apparently "you" do...
So, if you get over here, expect it to be called England because thats the "accepted name"...
I wish you well..

Most Americans can't find AMERICA on a map. You expect them to know the slightest thing about anything outside America?
