Actually it can really affect that. I had the same problem, first couple of years of college i didn't make great decisions with money. I would DEFINITELY suggest filing the FAFSA. They are great low interest loans. If you are going with a private loan, you will need a cosigner. If you find someone with great credit it shouldn't be a problem, but it could affect your interest rates. I didn't care about the interest rates when applying and now that i'm out of school, they are hitting me hard! Definitely use the government and look for any scholarships that you can get. Good luck!

Are you in default in the pupil loans you have out already? if so then particular you have got difficulty getting new loans. in case you only have adverse credit and have become the Stafford loans, then no. I actual have particularly crappy credit which lined financial ruin and that i've got pupil loans. yet another element to verify is the decrease of loans you have out. Your only allowed out a undeniable volume as an undergrad. i've got self belief it particularly is $40 six,000 or some the place around there. in case you bypass to grad college you may get extra however.

It will impact your ability to get private student loans to a degree. Stafford federal student loans are independent of credit and are based on need and the results of the FAFSA form. PLUS loans are credit-dependent on your parents for undergraduates, but you can get a cosigner. Private student loans are credit dependent, but a cosigner can greatly mitigate the impact of a student's bad credit.

Good luck!

It may and you might have to get a co-signer. But, if you can show that over the past 12 months you've paid your bills in a timely fashion, used credit cards responsibly, and maybe have your own apartment lease or car payment (these are biggies that count for a lot), then you could plead your case.

Good luck!

There are a lot of scholarships available. I suggest going to Google and conducting a search from there. I actually won a $5,000 scholarship about a year ago, and I recently found another contest by the same company for a $10,000 scholarship. It's free to enter, so there's no reason not to.
