Maui is very cute, first of all! ^^ About a year ago I rescued a "blonde" doxie from the pound, and all we seemed to meet was amazement too, but I found that she was apparently what is called a "clear red". While some doxies are black and tan and it logically makes SENSE that there might eventually be a completely black puppy, I've never seen one. Are you completely and utterly sure she's a dachshund? She struck me at first as perhaps a doxie/cocker spaniel mix...

I've only seen the reds and the black/tan variety. Is Maui a rescue pup??

From what I have heard about this breed, yes they are out there, it is not a recognizable color, but yet, there are people breeding to get silver labs or even the Panda Shepherds now-a-days.

Reposting this. Doxies are still not suppose to be all black.

She is very cute.
She may not fit the breed standards to well because of her color but she is really a cutie.

not all black, but the traditional saddle black...with the tan face & legs, & black saddle. all black would be cute!
