Know the strength of man,
But keep a woman's care!
Be the stream of the universe!
Being the stream of the universe,
Ever true and unswerving,
Become as a little child once more.
Know the white,
But keep the black!
Be an example to the world!
Being an example to the world,
Ever true and unwavering,
Return to the infinite.
Know honor,
Yet keep humility.
Be the valley of the universe!
part of chap -28
Everyone should at least read it with an open mind.

Raymond Smullyan's "The Tao is Silent" surely is the most accessible and best book resource on Taoism. Also, check into Alan Watts and his books/lectures on the subject.

It all sounds like a lot of common sense and a great way to live your life but why does it have to rely on belief in some supernatural entity? If we all embraced the three (six?) characteristics the world would be a much better place.

~~~ JJ ,,, When I denounced christianity as my personal philosophy, at age 17, I started studying Taoism and Zen Buddhism. As I was very skilled from a child in the Japanese martial art of Aikido(The most Spiritually Oriented Style or tied with the Chinese Style of Qi Gong Kung Fu), this Intellectual and Spiritual Understanding of The Universe is what Crystallized "It" for me. But please not to forget the old Chinese Proverb of ,,,"The Path is known to each who finds it." For many, The Dogma of Organized Religion unfortunately satisfies them spiritually and their Soul is not yet Mature enough to comprehend the deeper, Esoteric aspects of Life,,, we march to our own drummer. ,,,And it is beholden upon us to practice the very tenets you suggest as "the three characteristics" in which to assist our fellow Man in our Collective Conscience,,, just as the Hindu's Bhoddisattva fullfills his role upon his Rebirth.
