Good question. Most people would assume that beauty is a blessing and ugliness is a curse, but I would venture that either way could be both. God has a path laid out for each of us.
For some, beauty will get someone in a door that an ugly person couldn't get in. Or, an ugly person may find themselves withdrawn and focusing on intellectual pursuits (yes that is a stereotype) Each person is made in the way best suited to their purpose in life.
We are all formed to a degree by the people around us, like stones in a riverbed. A disabled child may be given to parents who are extra kind and will be able to love that child, or to parents who are selfish and need help to change that. (I'm not saying this is true in every case, I'm just offering up possibilities) Downs syndrome kids may not be considered beautiful to the eyes, but they are some of the sweetest most wonderful people to be around.
Our looks matterto some degree in where we are able to go, who we hang out with, what we can do in life. What we do with that is how we fulfill our purpose or not.

Ah! Religion is the wrong way to go about this one.
What is beautiful and what is ugly has a lot to do with the locality you grew up in.
In some cultures,
-fat is beautiful
-skinny is beautful
-big fat lips are beautiful
-black/tan color is beautful
-white/fair skin is beautiful
blah blah
It is pure chance of how the genes from your ancestors were transferred to you. Even two off springs of the same pair of parents come out different. The difference is how genes form in a fusion between the genes of the parents.
Now let us see from a religious point of view.
God does things that are difficult to understand for mortal beings like us.
He does things to see how we will behave. It is NOT fair (within this world) but this is how things are done. The people who suffer due to it will be compensated in the next life. The next life will last forever. So much so that people will not even remember if they ever experienced anything once they will be living their next life of eternity.
This life is just a class room and an exam room. What you do here will determine the next life one would get to live.

There will always be an group of ugly people, as well as a group of beautiful people. Even if "God" turned everyone turned into supermodels, we would find little faults in some people, making the less attractive than others, resulting in yet again, a group of ugly people, and a group of beautiful people. Beauty is all relative.

All of us are here are beautiful to the eye of God bec. God look at your heart and not who good looking you are. Actually, if you have a golden heart then you are the most beautiful on the eye of the God. Ugly and beautiful is only a physical outfit that you see as a human being. Like, we are wearing a mask.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I happen to think that Jennifer Connelly is beautiful but not everybody does. Of course, if she would just get her nose fixed, right? She refuses to do so. I admire her for not altering her appearance. It demonstrates self-confidence. She wouldn't look the same.
Quite frankly, some people have tolerant and diverse views of beauty. We all have our preferences. I don't get a 'neo-Nazi' view of beauty where you have to be blonde, statuesque, pale, thin, blue-eyed, etc. I mean, Claudia Shiffer is beautiful but that is not the only type of beauty.
As for God, it is about the person and the internal experience, not about looks.

My personal opinion regarding this is that the ones who are beautiful have to go through a more tough trial as more people are attracted to them and thus there is a high chance of them being involved in fornication.
On the other hand, the ones who are not beautiful or good looking are far less susceptible to being involved in fornication.
Other than that, status in front of God is determined by one's piety and righteousness. It has NOTHING to do with how good looking you are.

As a Christian I think that God looks at the persons soul. I believe that when you die if you are saved then you go to Heaven to be with God. When you go to Heaven (back home) your soul goes not your body. So God sees your inside not your outside. When Adam & Eve sinned they bought sin into the world. That includes vanity which is something humans use to judge themselves and others. So we as humans decide who is ugly and beautiful not God.

It really depends on what you believe is beautiful or ugly. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! But really, is it important to worry about how people look? It doesn't matter.

Being beautiful makes you shallow and superficial-I don't know why God curses some people with beauty.
