No matter what other said or implied,
Mormon LDS like me, believe in the following about Jesus Christ:
1. He is our savior and redeemer.
2. He is the Son of God.
3. He is Jehovah in the old testament, The God of Abraham, the
God of Jacob and the God of Isreal.
4. Jesus Christ is the head of our church, and he is directing his
church through a living prophet.
Now, how you or others classify us as christian or not is entirely your opinion.

For simplicity's sake the answer is:
No
However there is a set list of criteria one must meet in order to be considered a Christian
1. Belief in the existence of God
2. Belief that Jesus is God
3. Belief that He died for us
4. Belief that He rose again
5. Belief that humanity is worthless scum - (that's the easy one)
6. That any future revelation must agree completely with what has already come
7. Oh yeah, and Yeshua Hamashiach (I apologize if I spelt it wrong) is the ONLY way to heaven and to be forgiven
The rest you have a little leeway
SO lets see the official page of www.mormon.org says that Mormons agree with 3-5
They do not believe that Jesus is God they believe He is A god. One of many, and that Lucifer is actually His brother
However they do state certain things about the nature of God such as He was once flesh like us - or currently has a flesh body
God also supposedly got jiggy with Mary thus committing sin
They also make some pretty whacked out claims about the afterlife claiming godhood potential
They also make a claim that there is salvation only in their church thus unlike most Christians which just say other denominations are crazy they deny the salvation of their so called "brethren"
I could go on but no Mormon's arent Christians - Jehovah's Witnesses aren't Christian and Seventh Day Adventists arent Christian - Catholics are just a little deluded but they are Christians

Originally Mormon's did not want to be called Christians. They didn't want to associate themselves with the other Christian's back then. Smith said all other Christians were wrong. Later down the road they changed and were then calling themselves Christians.

I believe Mormons consider themselves to be Christians. Many non-Mormon Christians would say otherwise. I think the reasoning behind that is Mormons follow a text in addition to the standard Protestant Bible.
To answer that question you would have to define what a Christian is. I would answer a yes to you question since my definition of a Christian is someone who believes in the divinity of Christ and in the forgiveness of sins and attaining eternal life through faith in him.
But others might disagree.

This time the debate is with the Mormons. I think people who believe in Jesus and accept him as the saviour are Christians. (Whether Catholic, Anglican, Mormon or anyone else)
If Mormons accept and believe in Jesus then why not? Who are others to judge? If they do not believe in Jesus than I couldn't imagine why they would want to be called Christians. Sorry I don't know much about them to be able to tell you their beliefs.

Mormons are descended from a cult established by Joseph Smith in the early 1800s. They gained legitimacy through political and financial means in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Today they claim to be mainstream Christians or the real Church but some of their beliefs are really whacked out.

In a very strict sense, no. Some of their beliefs are based on the Bible, many of their ceremonies and layout of their temples are copies of masonic ritual (Note: Masonry is NOT a religion, nor does it try to be one). I beleive if you compare major theological teachings between Christianity and Moromonism you'll find a wide divergence of belief.
