I live in Cleburne Texas in the DFW (Dallas/FortWorth) area. I want to buy before Xmas and I prefer a female over a male.

Please adopt! The fee usually covers vaccines, spay/neuter, any medical needs the dog had, and the dog is usually house trained, socialized, etc.

Go to http://www.petfinder.com to look up dogs in your area that are available!

Spaying and neutering saves lives!!!

You should check online. Try petfinder.com or puppyfind.com. I think puppyfind is better if you are looking for a specific breed and sex (as you are) But, beware! You should try to go to the breeder's home to pick up the puppy; otherwise, you might be buying from a puppy mill! I know there are a lot of breeders in Texas, so hopefully you'll have luck!

I agree with zzhoundzz. Go get one from a shelter, or an Org. rescue. If you look in the paper or on line paper (I live in Ellis County, Texas) you will find around 50 people (or more) selling puppies. Most unreg. will go for @ $250...registered will go for between $400.00 and $600.00! If you are lucky you will find a reg. for $300.00. You may not get a purebred at the shelter, but you could find a mix that is close. If you are not planning on breeding and want a purebred, go to the Schn rescue org. and apply for one. This will cost around $150, but they are usually house broke, basic commands, and spay/neutered.

Good Luck!

I would check with the breed club of that particular breed to see if there are any breeders who ship or are in your area.

Do not purchase a dog, however, from a pet store since these dogs are mill bred dogs and often suffer from many genetic and evironmental problems as the grow.
